“That was the hardest time in my life, as far as how much work [former coach Joe Philbin] asked guys to do,” Finnegan told the Miami Herald this week. “It just didn’t make sense for a guy who’s older in years to be able to do what rookies were doing.”
Finnegan added: “I knew Lou [Anarumo, the Dolphins’ defensive backs coach] would be back and the dynamics, it would have been the same thing. No matter who you got, it was going to be the same defense. For me, it didn’t make sense. Why kill yourself again in another training camp to maybe have a knee replacement five, 10 years earlier than you’re supposed to, because he’s not giving you a break?”

Philbin is a snake

Finnigan was trying to coast and his play showed. I have no problem with the coaches asking him to do the same work as the younger players.

What a terrible football coach.

It actually makes me think this team has a chance to win much more than anyone thinks next year because the actual coaching was holding them back.

Disagree he wasn't that good but still better than anything we started opposite Grimes in 2015.

There is a fine line between overtraining and having players out of condition.
The one thing about Shula was that his teams were usually better conditioned than his opponents. That's one of the reasons he could win games with less talented teams
Sparano was the exact opposite. One of the most embarrassing moments I can recall as a Phin fan was the season opener on prime time several yrs ago in Miami vs the Pats. In the South Florida humidity that night the Phins were gasping and sucking wind in the 2nd half. The Pats were clearly the better conditioned team. The Phins were dominated in the 2nd half after keeping it close early.

Ummm... defense fell apart at the end of the season? I hate to break it to you, but they sucked the Entire season and nobody mentions it, but they sucked even more when Wake went down.

I'm not going to crucify Philbin over his first head coaching job he's no longer part of this team so lets not speak on him. It does no good to live in the past.

Exactly. Time to move forward.

And not just because I supported Philbin to the bitter end. :chuckle:

Well, to paraphrase George Santayana: "He who ignores the past is doomed to repeat it."

I don't think there was anyone left who was that abjectly clueless, eh?

I was blinded by Aqua & Coral hope until the regular season began. Then I jumped ship and swam ashore to watch the ship sink.

I can't imagine anyone foolish enough to continue to cling to the offshore wreck and think that **** still floats . . .

Not reading much into that...finnegan was on the chopping block whether he came back or not in 2015 with that cap number and his play in 2014

Reads like he blames the coaching staff for his ankle getting hurt in a game...:rolleyes2:

Finnegan and Ginn might get rings while Marino never did. That. Is. Sick.

From the owner to the practice squad: Ultimate. Team. Game.

As of 2014, out of 170 members of the HOF almost half (83) of the those honored never won a SB.
