More Jason Taylor commentary

I can't believe that he would let his agent make these types of comments unless they came directly from him.

He sure doesn't sound like a team player to me. It hasn't even been two weeks since he went directly - to the media to petition being used as a tight end because he 'just wants to help the team win', but now he doesn't want to play a different position on defense?

I may be way off on this, but I think he didn't appreciate Saban's candor when he was asked about Taylor playing on offense and now he's whining like a spoiled prima donna. Don't get me wrong I think JT is our best player and he is more solid than Zach, but it does appear that he's whining and pouting like a Noxema skin care model. He must be used to the former head Coach letting him walk all over him...

Maybe JT is concerned with it and his agent is putting it out there, like a feeler. If JT came out and said 'hell no', we've have an issue. If his agent came out and said 'JT said he is very upset" we'd have an issue. By his agent saying "I don't think he we would be excited" puts it out there for Saban but gives JT plausible deniability.

I doubt any agent speaks without his clients voice somewhere in the background.
Remember when jason said a few comments during a game about him not giving a crap about the coaching situation? I took the postition that he shouldn't have said anything, and got jumped left and right about jason should be able to say anything he wants because he is such a great part of the team and a team player. I don't want to even go into the realm of "I told you so..." but maybe those comments were a prelude of things to come...

Perhaps JT is concerned that he doesn't have the skills to play linebacker? Perhaps he is worried that his value will drop if he is placed at linebacker and doesn't make the transition well? Of course, this could all be a set up for future contract negotiations, using the "JT is unhappy" ploy to require bigger signing money.

I think JT dislikes the notion of playing for a college coach, which I don't feel is an unreasonable position. College coaches have not been doing very well in recent NFL history, so I don't blame JT for being hesitant or reluctant to work for Saban initially. If Saban proves himself a winner with this team and JT sees greater success within Saban's system, all this talk will disappear. I think JT, like Zach, is a fierce competitor and wants to win, and is a little worried about a college coach moving him out of a position where he knows he can help the team win.

Whatever the case may be, Saban is not going to trade away his best player on defense before his debut season. JT will be a Dolphin for at least one more season, and I fully expect the franchise tag after that.

I would hate to loose JT. He has been one of the few positives we had last year. I say it all the time.... JT and ZT are institutions for the Dolphins and loosing them would be a shame.

That being said I cannot see JT settling for something that does not please him. i hope this works out.

Why didnt his agent say that playin TE is not what got Jt in the pro bowl. So JT is willing to be more involved to score points and get glory but he cant be moved around on D were he is more Valuable. I hope this is just his agent talking because other wise it seems JT is about JT and not about winning! Can I get an AMEN?!
A freecking men..

Saban won't trade taylor. that is something wanny would do. also holliday is a bum he is just coming here to be a back up anyways(see his contract) so i don't get why you guys are so worried about this

No, it is wanny who would never trade taylor, heck he couldn't even control his own coaches much less his own players. Do you honestly believe he would've traded Gardner if it wasn't for the injuries?

Nick on the other hand is going to do whatever he thinks is best for his team, he has no loyalty to anyone other than himself. If a player gets out of line, or is too much trouble or he has an Idea about what is best for the team and WINNING, then watch out, anything could happen.

I have said this before agents state in public what their clients state in private.

So I believe this is coming from JT, if not he should make a public statement saying "hey I'm cool with whatever Coach Saban has planned for me"

I do believe its about money and his value as a LB vs DE, so we will see how this plays out, kinda is like that old saying becareful what you wish for....we wished for Saban
now we may have to lose 2 of our best Defenders (Surtain/Taylor)

If it get us a SuperBowl so be it.We haven't won anything with them here.

That's the way I took it. I think JT just wants to win

JT is signed till 2009. JT made his money as DE not OLB... if he switches to OLB and has a weak season.... fins can cut him or restructure..... jason wants to play where he already knows he is sucessful

I would bet anything that Jason Taylor is not going anywhere. He's one of the best defensive players in the league and besides the cap implications of it, you don't trade away the backbone of your defense.

I seem to remember Taylor lining up in different positions and in different stances in the past. I think what the agent is referring to is an all out change in position. I don't think JT is the type of player who will refuse to line up in different spots for Saban. Think of all the lineman who have participated in a zone blitz on certain downs. Taylors agent is just protecting his client.

Taylor this offseson was talking about wanting to be used in different situations... If he is so inclined to want to play offense, why wouldnt he be excited in being used in different alignments. I dont think he's moving permanently. But to switch it up... create movement, I cant see how we wouldnt be interested in that. Line up like a LB... slide up to the line... Start up on the line drift back to LB... perhaps blitz from there... there are alot of excellent options with moving players around..
Im sure JT will love the scheme once he's introduced to it.
