Some more comments from Peter King on his trip to the hall, including these gems:

You know how nutso the crowd Sunday was for Marino? As nutso as I've ever seen a crowd at a Hall induction in any sport. So when I got up at the podium, I said, "I'd like to try an experiment, if you don't mind? DAN MARINO"

The place erupted. I stood in awe of the roof coming off the place. For 54 seconds, I couldn't go on. The roar was just enormous.

It made me realize there have been heroes in sports in my lifetime: Mickey Mantle, Bill Russell, Reggie Jackson, Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Brett Favre. But a guy who's up there with all of them is on the same stage with me, tired and awestruck by it all.

Great article.

Dolfans really took over Canton and honored Danny

Yep, I was there and the place exploded when he said "Dan Marino". In fact, whatever place we were at exploded whenever his name was mentioned. I've never given so many standing ovations in my life :)

No, he never threw a ball all day before picking that one up.

And no, he never thought he might throw an errant pass.

"Never entered my mind," he said. "I knew I'd hit him right in the chest."

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why Dan Marino is Dan Marino.

Truer words have never been spoken.

peter king is great baby danny marino the greatest qb of all time dolfans came out in droves to honor him and made history while doing it.

Great article, but I hope King never uses Reggie Jackson and Dan Marino in the same sentence again! Yeah, Reggie could hit, but he is not the total package that Dan is! The weekend was awesome and I am very proud to have been there!

Great article that described a great moment in a weekend filled with great moments. I was awestruck, giddy, wistful, misty-eyed, grateful, ecstatic, and proud to be a witness to this once-in-a-lifetime event. Proud to be among the thousands of orange & aqua-wearing Finatics who paid tribute to a great player, a supportive & loving father, and a Hall of Fame human being. And to have another chance to chant Shula's name, to cheer Bob Griese again, and to visit the 'shrine within a shrine,' aka the Perfect Season display in the Hall.

When Danny threw that tight spiral on Sunday, I could almost see him in uniform again. If only........

That is great to hear. I don't know that there are too many players that are as popular to his city as Marino is to Miaimi, and Miami fans.
