More Leinart Speculation

jacobs is great, there is no doubt. However, he cant touch Leinhart right now, if you watch leinhart he puts the ball right on the money every throw and does it effortlessly. he looks like someone in between peyton and brady....hope we get leinhart, but i would also be happy with jacobs..

Good analysis. Leinart seems to know exactly when to take something off his throws or when to zip it and leads his receivers so well. He seems to really see the field well, something that Marino was amazing at. On physical talent Leinart is not as good as Carson Palmer, but I think overall he could turn out to be better. Miami will have to fix the offensive line, though, no matter what qb is brought in.

What really strikes me with that list is the number of quality OT and DT at the top of the board. It's also probably the first time I've seen so few quality WR available early on.
Regarding our pick, it's going to be hard justifying a high pick on an offensive lineman, after we spent a first rounder on Carey 2 years ago. This changes if we're picking in the 5-10 range, where the top 2 QB's will be gone but if we end up picking top 5, we almost have to go with Leinart or Jacobs unless Saban falls in love with Kiwanuka to groom him as a potential replacement for JT.

If we fall in the 5 to 10 range, I'd rather trade down than pick up a T because of the ridiculous glut of them available. We could then pick up 2 guys like Chad Greenway and Jimmy Williams or a combo of Andrew Whithworth (LSU) and H.B Blades.

On a side note, every year a couple players shoot up the boards a la Rivers and Carlos Rogers. I could see Jimmy Williams, Gabe Watson (who would be a perfect NT for us), DeAngelo Williams and Santonio Holmes ending up higher.

I am not at all worried about who we are going to pick for next year. They will pick whoever they need at that position and we do not have control of that.

I'm a little intrigued by the guy in Texas Vince Young now that I hear he's 6'5" and he may run a 4.4 in the 40. If he does run that, he could be a wide receiver just like Matt Jones.

As you can see, I'm a true whore when it comes to world-beating size/speed ratios in a wide receiver. I think Jones is going to be one of the most dominant forces in the league and if Young has the same kind of speed to go with a 6'5" frame guess what he could be too.

Im sorry but if we have a shot at Leinart and we don't take him I will lose all faith in Saban. It requires no thought, he's hands down the best player in the draft and the best Qb, it would be a godsend to have a shot at this guy. Im tired of listening to how other Qb's are "more talented", whatever. Id trade 2 Jacobs for Leinart.
