Not really going to post as much from Sirius, but news I've gotten from other sources.

For the most part, everybody loves the Joey Porter signing. The only person to give it a negative is Dan Le Betard.

Conflicting reports on Donte Stallworth, Comcast Philly is reporting a 6 year deal worth $32 million was agreed upon between NE and Donte, but every other source is reporting Donte will meet with the Titans tomarrow, and us Thursday.

Speaking of WRs, Stallworth is not the only WR set to visit this week. Shaun McDonald of the St. Louis Rams is also set to visit at some point this week. McDonald, while not as highly regarded as teammate Kevin Curtis, is a decent WR. His 2nd year in the league, he was actually BETTER than Curtis, but nagging injuries has hurt his production. Like Curtis, McDonald is a speedster and spent last year as a punt returner.

Speaking of Curtis, he fired his agent today for failing to even get the peremeters of a contract set up with St. Louis,Minny, or Detroit. Curtis is reportedly flying to New York (relax, he's meeting with the G-Men), and his tour will continue on. A visit to Miami is probable, but not set in stone.

While Daniel Graham has a visit set up with Miami, he probably will never meet with us. He is expected to sign with either Denver or Seattle as early as tonight.

The only thing holding Miami back from signing Maurice Hicks to an offer sheet is finding out whether or not San Francisco will match the offer. Until Mueller gets a difinitive answer, the offer is on hold.

If Miami wants to, Miami could sign Todd Johnson today. Johnson, a florida native and former Gator, really liked is visit to Miami, and wants to return to Florida.

Part of the reason Miami might not have signed Johnson is Ken Hamlin. Johnson would be brought in as a backup, but Miami doesn't want to go overboard on the safeties.

Fins are trying to get Olindo Mare to restructure. If he won't, both Jay Feeley and Paul Edinger are waiting in the wings.

Miami is interested in Trent Green, but not for a pick this year, or a first day pick next year.

Ken Hamlin? He's next on my list now that Porter is locked up. Did they say anything else about that, like when he's supposed to meet with us? He's an excellent young safety.. makes some plays, and a good tackler. He's only like 25 or so.

Also, Stallworth aside.. signing Curtis, McDonald, or Washington = WASTE.

There are much better prospects in the draft. We've got four day 1 picks. I want to spend one of our 2nd-rounders on a WR, if not #9, honestly. I have a feeling that with Johnson, Ginn, Meachem, Jarrett, Bowe, Rice, & Hill.. one of those guys (obviously not the first two) will fall to #40. And, if we decide to move down from #9 to around the teens if Quinn doesn't fall or something like that, it'd be the PERFECT target area to pick up a guy like Meachem or Jarrett.

FYI, training camp would be awfully fun to watch if we land both Stallworth & Hamlin:

king i am glad you like jarrett and meachem and hill . i dont know much about hill but i rather get him or jarrett instead of siging a f/a wr

As far as Hicks here is a little niblit on the contract offer and matching it.

As a restricted free agent, San Francisco would have the right to match any offer sheet Hicks signs. But the 49ers, who have ample salary-cap space, wouldn't receive draft pick compensation if allowing him to leave because they gave Hicks the lowest possible one-year tender offer ($850,000) and he wasn't drafted out of North Carolina A&T.

So, we won't lose a pick, if we offer him a deal.

great info. Not very sad bout stallwort nor graha..wut else..I'd like Mare back. And i'm sure e wil lrestructure (if e is smart) because e must realize..missing 10 atepts (few of them game teiyng)

But, here's the thing. Most rookie WR don't contribute a lot, especially early in the season. There's just too much for them to learn. Most elite college WR get by on pure athleticism. In the NFL, they are confronted by top CB talent every week. In the NFL, they have to learn complex offenses. And they also have to learn read defenses, because most offenses depend heavily on option routes. It's why most top young WR don't make much of an impact until their 2nd or 3rd season. A veteran, like Kevin Curtis, could step in and contribute right away. And there's no reason why signing a veteran like Curtis would preclude Miami from drafting a top WR. In fact, that's almost the perfect scenario. Sign a guy like Curtis to be the #3 WR. Draft one of the top guys, and let him contribute as a #4 WR, mostly as a deep threat. Then next year, if your draft pick progresses enough, you can think about cutting Booker and his salary.

Thanks for the news....good stuff....

I really liked that last sentence....from my understanding, that would basically mean that Green will be had for no more than a 4th rounder next year....good stuff....that's the most he's worth.
