the heat shove there merchandise down your throats..by giving stuff away free...also people love the color black for some reason...the nfl is just more [popular than the nba or mlb...people will start getting bored of the heat winning..i know you laugh but you will see...have you guys been to a nba game..that is the easyist sport in the world ..open your eyes people ..it's easy..why do you think nba players smile alot cause they know people are stupid and dumb..why do you think the heat went after the best most popular player in the nba cause they know thats the only way people are gonna care about them..the nfl doesn't need to do that..that's why winning the superbowl is unlike any other team sport.

Seems like a lot of Heat hate on these boards and I really don't get it. Don't you want all our teams to be doing well? TC, that shows you right there how the Miami sports scene is. Anyways to the topic at hand, Miami will always be a football town for all the reasons already mentioned. The Heat are the talk of the town right now because they are winning and have a competent front office and ownership. I'm a huge Miami sports fan and Dolphins have always been my #1 followed by the Heat and Canes football, but fact is they haven't been relevant for a while.

We have the foundation in place with Tannehill, Philbin, etc. We will be fine. When the Dolphins are good, this town is much more abuzz when it comes to sports. People still show up late to Heat games and rarely stay the whole game. Why? Its the South Beach Effect. Its Miami. Its not a traditional sports town.

The NFL might be more popular to Americans but remember miami is probably 85% hispanic. Hispanics prefare to watch soccer/basketball/baseball than American football. Why? IDK, im hispanic and i like all but most dont. Maybe in the broward area are you could get more mention. But Miami specifically like coral gables, kendall, hialeah, westchester..the dolphins are irrelevant. If they win maybe the interest will increase but i doubt it will be that much, the excuse they all give me is because they dont understand the game therefore they dont watch it lol

hispanics..no.................... cubans ..rich cubans who live in coral gables ..those are the number one heat fans..

You can get a cricket team ..and if they win cubans are gonna jump the bandwagon...they are very easy to sleep...see how they love to copy what the neighbors have..boats...rv's...

It's funny how many canes fans are jumping the fins bandwagon now..78 posts..i'am all for people that went to the u to cheer for them but people that didn't go to that school..thurman thomas when he played for the fins said he can't understand why people treat the canes like they are the pro team..i know why cause they win..that's why..i bet if the fins lose they will jump on the heat again..typical miami sports fan.

Lol cubans, colombians, hondurans, nicas, dominicans, puerto ricans, venezuelans. The cuban population when taking hispanics as a whole in miami right now doesnt exceed 70%. Theres alot of other hispanics. Stop talking out of your a**

Basketball has at least a following in South America, so that's part of it. Also, it's more the "glitzy" thing to do now because of the heat's success. Ticket prices are outrageous. Prior to 2011,I used to get sick seats in like the 7th or 8th row when the knicks came to town for practically nothing.People rather go eat in Brickell or Downtown and then walk or cab it to the heat game then treck all the way out to ****ing Miami Gardens/Carol City and be stuck in the humidity.

Football in general is just more a complicated sport to follow. Basketball is easier for the casual observer to pick up. Aside from the cultural ingraining of soccer, it's simplicity is why it's the most popular sport in the world. Football is by far the most rewarding and cerebral sport, but the learning curve makes it difficult for some. In Latin America, it obv doesn't have those roots so people don't even bother. Basketball is ridiculously easy to follow and pick up. It's actually one of the reasons i hate the NBA, because these guys are retards and douchebags who can just run fast and jump high. At least football is a thinking man's game for the most part.

When you have people who are not really vested in sports (Like much of south florida), they're going to go with the more glamorous and easy to pick up thing.

Heh, it might even be less than that. It's not the 1980's or early 90s anymore. The wave of south and central americans the past 10-15 years has been significant. a lot of cubans have left miami altogether. some to broward, some to naples etc.

Agreed, in the past for every five people 4 were cuban. Right now 2 out of 3 are cuban. I know cubans have left little havana/calle 8 barely any, the rich cubans reside in kendall and most live in hialeah if they havnt already left. Also, ive played both soccer in clubs, and football at my highschool, football is more cerebral as you said as you have to remember calls, but for soccer you have to be at a top peak physical condition, it depends which you like more

lol yeah, it seems all the cubans in miami hit versailles in the mornings for breakfast. I prefare la carreta but i go there every once in a while

I live in miami. No one mentions the dolphins down here. Its all heat. Take it how you want it.

Oh really? Well, Listen to Wqam 560, or 640, or 940 winz....even though the Heat bought a championship, the Dolphins are talked about as much or more and they haven't won a playoff game in 12 years.

Watch what happens if this team even contends............................
