He was telling people at the Super Bowl he will not return next season to the ESPN Pre-Game Show according to a SD newspaper

(I got $10 Jerome Bettis takes his spot.)

Thats a shame, he's the only one I liked on that show.

I could also see Flutie, if he decides to retire.

Steve Young on his way out ESPN's door (whispering to friend): "Let's see how they do without ME"

Yeah I don't get it, what difference would it make to Madden?

It's called a joke folks. Madden's got the brown lips from kissing Farve's butt all the time.

Madden - "Farve throws his 3rd interception of the night but what a beauty it is and it was such a great throw that obviously his WR must have run the wrong route again as Farve is the greatest and can't miss any throw"

I'm well aware of that, thanks. The question was, Why would Madden care if he became a analyst for ESPN!?!?!?

and the answer remains the same, because Madden is in LOVE with Favre. Geez, tough crowd.

ESPN is actually irrelevant. I realised after rereading everything it actually confused the joke. It was more like Madden would be excited if Farve was still in the public eye with football so he can talk to/ interview/ sleep with/ adore/ him.
