I mean just went through some vids of Ginn's PRs in college and I'm just perplexed at how can Morono not feel that Ginn is a top notch option to return, not just kicks, PUNTS!!!

I mean, OHS had some good blockers, but there were many PRs where Ginn Jr took it in traffic and held on and even scored on them. I don't get it. Ginn Jr has looked good the past 6 games and especially good last week.

I just don't get why it took Morono a whole year and a half to finally decide "hey, let's have Ginn Jr return kicks..." Um, hello? Most of Ginn's TD returns were PUNTS, not Kicks...though he had many of those too.

And with Pat White, I know he said that he didn't want to use White any other ways because he was forced to have him as the #2 QB with CP10 going down. But I would say that in the last game of the season, why not try White on KRs and some slot? I mean, Thigpen 'has' to have learned the playbook by now, right?

I hate Ginn as a football player but there's no one else better in our team to return punts and kicks. You might as well use him for that and try to get the most out of it. He's not really a "special" player at returning kicks but he's the best we got.

I still think Pat White should be moved to WR this off-season. He's never going to be much as a QB in the NFL so why not use him where we have an area of need and he could really help us??!!

lol, Morono... :rolleyes2:

NFL's different from college, obviously, and Ted just doesn't cut it in the NFL, obviously. He's afraid of contact and has zero confidence. Maybe he'd be better if he were confident, but the guy's mental makeup is so fragile it'd probably just get shattered again.

I hope Ginn isn't on the team next year. He seems like a really good guy, though, just not a great football player.

He will be a Fin in 2010. He's a great burner, but not a #1 WR. He wasn't used right. Hopefully we throw deep to him and a playmaker with a new OC.

And I don't know about you guys, but I have absolutely no faith in Ginn when he's back to return a punt. I expect him to fumble or just miss the ball completely every single time, and most of the time I'm spot on.

Like Parcells said "if you don't bite as a puppy then you aren't going to bite". Well Ginn has never bit, period. He is a coward and has zero confidence. Combine that with an alleged learning disability and he is NEVER going to be anything in the NFL.

Then you need to see him return some punts, maybe your opinion will change. He returned punts just fine, look. didnt see him drop any here...

I wish I could see him return some punts too, but every time he tries here in the NFL he can't seem to hold onto the ball. Last time he was back there was in the Tennessee game and he fumbled.

that's just a case of a funk. Bess muffed way more punts then Ginn has this year. don't see you saying anything about him? point is...

this should raise eyebrows about how Morono is using Ginn, period.

College isn't the NFL...

And Bess is a terrible punt returner as well, but for different reasons. I don't get nauseous every time I see the ball being punted to Bess, even if he has muffed more than Ginn this year. That's just because of more opportunities.

Actually, I have to disagree with you there. College is exactly what scouts use when evaluating for who they draft. Secondly, if you look at what you are saying is about "muffs". College is no excuse, if you muff, you muff. And Ginn had no problem with muffs at all in any of those punts.

You may be able to use the "college" excuse about blocking and players not being as fast as those in the NFL...but the muffing is a case of hands and nerves. Ginn had no such problems.

Everyone is entitled to a muff here or there, which would be under that one muff Ginn had this year...that he didn't lose by the way. But Bess has muffed and muffed and muffed as well as fumbled and lost many. NO excuse.

Let's keep reality in perspective. Morono has a lot to blame if Ginn has lost confidence (which he showed last week a lot of confidence by the way)...but that's what coaching is for....to MOTIVATE and keep your players confident.

Ginn's been misused, no way around it. Look at the fact that he didn't even return kicks the first few games and then he gets his chance and bam! 2 KRs for TD in the same Quarter!

Watching the Ted Ginn's Buckeye video clips will drive you crazy. Teddy's speed is world class and the quality of many players that he was pitted against in college allowed him to score lots of amazing TDs. Even Mel Kiper remarked how Ginn's video highlights are incredible. Teddy is still electric but he now faces vastly superior competitors in defense and special teams. He also faces teams that have experienced professional special teams coaches that know how to minimize the risk of breakout plays (occasional ones get through eg JETS).
Teddy can still be dangerous if given the right opportunities to shine but eliminate the thoughts that he will be able to replicate his college highlights.

That's exactly why I'm using it. Ginn is terrified of contact and wants no part in being hit. Don't you always see him trying to get to the sideline or just falling down before being tackled? His lack of confidence is what leads him to muff punts; he's afraid.

If he returned as many punts as Bess, I guarantee he'd have twice as many muffs. Don't you think Sparano sees what Ginn does all summer long and during practice? I think he knows what he has in Ted Ginn, Jr.
