Mort: Kravitz is wrong, Manning throwing the ball very hard

Why would anyone take the Chris Weinke case to say anything about Peyton Manning?

As it happens, coincidence of coincidences, I just got done watching some old Weinke games just for the hell of it. He was never the thrower that Peyton Manning was. Manning could throw more crisp passes while sleep walking.

If I'm a concert pianist and I broke my hand, had to have surgery on it, are you going to predict that I'll be playing Stravinsky at Symphony Hall in no time because you're pretty good at playing Chopsticks, and you broke your hand and had the same surgery, and were back to playing Chopsticks again within the year? I'm supposed to find that reassuring?

Oh but I'm certain Chris Weinke assured Peyton very strongly that he will be throwing strong, crisp passes again in no time...just like the strong, crisp passes that Weinke (never) threw.

Yeah but he can still get a feel for the ups and downs of the process. Just because Weinke wasn't a super thrower of the ball in comparision doesn't mean Weinke can't relate how he got back to his 100%. Just like former Tommy John pitchers. 1 could have had a 100 MPH fastball and the other a 90 MPH one. The Cardinals had 4 starters in their rotation last year that went through the process. And they all felt each others experiences were valuable to their own recovery. Its like saying well your left handed and I am a righty so I can't get a feel from you.

Manning is still recovering. He doesn't want to show how far he has come until it becomes necessary to get the maximum amount of strength and touch back. He is being smart about his situation, even if that creates the speculation by the self serving pundits.
The Indy local media are probably the most believable source at this point, but you have to wonder if the ownership has some influence over them considering they will access to the players(Luck) in the future.
All of this will be cleared up when Peyton begins visiting teams in a couple of weeks - months. He doesnt need the money, he is attempting a comeback for the love of the game.
Right now, I would take any report with a grain of salt.

The Pro Peyton people on this board are going to believe the positive reports and the anti are going to believe the negative reports; This is just going to go back and forth until free agency and into OTA's.

For everyone. At minimum I want a first hand report. Everything so far has been some version of "I talked to someone who watched him throw."

Thats all we are going to get until he gets released, and until he works out with prospective teams.

If this is true why hasn't Manning had a camera crew filming him throwing the ball, even in an informal session?
Why? He doesn't need too.

It's only us fans who are eating up the hourly gossip from ESPN etc... Teams aren't relying on ESPN to make their decisions. When Manning is released he'll meet with teams and go through workouts. Until then... enjoy the circus.

Manning doesnt need to make a video. He will throw for teams in private workouts when, and if, he is released. He is still a colt who has not been released.....why would he show video for teams he doesn't even know if he will be a free agent yet. Stop being so silly and reading into things you could not possibly have any idea about!!!!

Miami needs to avoid Manning at all costs, he's not fine and never will be. I wish Manning would retire so he doesn't fail miserably with his potential new team. Just like the Eagles knew McNabb was done, the Colts know Manning is done.

I'm kinda onboard with you...I feel he's an extream risk.

Don't forget just like how the Chargers also knew Brees was done too.

Continue to improve the rest of the team, keep Moore and if Peyton is healthy and wants to play here sign him, incentive based and lets see what happens. The worst we do if an improved team with Moore at qb...The best limitless...

If and when he is cut, he will have workouts for teams that are interested. I don't believe the media at all!!! Seeing is believing and if he can throw with some velocity, we will try to sign him. Manning is the best per-snap QB in the history of the game. Throwing the ball is only half of what makes him so great!!! He will eventually get the strength back and hopefully win a championship for us!!!

Payton Manning throwing the football? How can that be? He is done.

lol.

I will believe Peyton Manning in the end. I think Peyton has always had great character. I dont think he would take a team for a ride. Yes, he has some damage, but the neck is good and now its just regeneration of the nerve. Those are the things Peyton is questioning. He believes he can come back. If Peyton believes, Im all in. Thats all that matters to me. What does Peyton think? If he does well enough in a few weeks proving to us that he will be ready to go in Sept. you gotta love that.

I wouldnt bet against him if HIS chips are in.

Manning has never had a Cannon like Favre. At this point he could probably a little zip on his ball under 25 yards but over that its probably a Pennington or Palko(noodle arm)like ball right now.
