I did not see this posted...

Said the Fins loved their interview with Philbin and was always at the top of the list, but are proceeding cautiously in these tough times for him. They are not sure if he wants to make a career move at this time...

I think he is the frontrunner IMO, but does he want the gig. BTW...The poor Fins after Cowher, Gruden, Fisher and Philbin say "no" could be at #5 from their want list...

i think philbin might be ok, he is def older and doesnt call the plays though. i dont know much about him.

i think this teams most of all some fire like Harbaugh brought to san fran. but philbin may be the guy, i dont know much about him.

anyone have details?

At this point i'm not sure what coach would be best for us. I wouldn't mind Philbin though

tough to imagine where his head is at. is he capable of helping put a team together in the next 3-4 months? this kind of reminds me the dungy situation in a way.

I think that is exactly what the Fins are thinking...

Take it for what it is worth, but on NFL32 Mort said a Packers source he really respects calls Philbin "Joe Gibbs-like" in his preparation and how he runs a meeting. Certainly high praise.

I have others ahead of Philbin in my mind, but I would not be out of my gourd if they hired him...I STILL do have issues/questions. Some issues/questions I am not educated enough on and others that cannot be answered at this time.

1. Where is he mentally at this time after an awful tragedy?
2. He does not call the plays on game day.
3. How much input does he have as a percentage in constructing a typical Packers game plan?
4. What would his staff look like?
5. IF the Packers go to the Super Bowl, would he be able to put together a quality staff after the coaching ranks have been picked through?
6. How strong of a leader is he?
7. Is he strong communicator to the team and public?

Should be interesting...

The question is WHAT IF Philbin does not want the gig? Where does Jeff go?

Umm Gruden and Cower didn't say no to Miami, they said no to the ENTIRE NFL. Please get that correct.

just say Philbin wants the job but has to wait till GB season is over - can't the Fins hire coaches that he would want now and then when his season is done hire him ... just asking anyone know

they can have a wink wink deal in place. I just don't think you can give assistants an official title. Like The Cowboys hired Jason Garrett but didn't give him a title before hiring Wade Phillips. The Redskins hired Jim Zorn and were just going to make him an assistant but just decided to keep him as HC instead

Just because he's on the Packers staff, and is lucky enough to have Rodgers as his QB, doesn't mean he's ready to be a HC. Give me Zimmer any day over Philbin.

Philbon is Sparano part 2! I know now bash Gannon!

Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin “isn’t a quarterback guy — he’s more of an offensive line guy. He’s not the play-caller,” Gannon said. “[Cincinnati offensive coordinator] Jay Gruden is outstanding, but he’s not leaving. [Carolina offensive coordinator] Rob Chudzinski is probably the next guy who’s left.”

If you are bringing in a Philbin, it's to orchestrate the whole thing not necessarily to call the plays. We've seen a number of HCs fail because they tried to do too much. Philbin's philosophy on attacking a defense is very relevant, but how to do it on a play by play basis can safely reside in the hands of a competent OC.
