Mort: Philbin probably the favorite, but don't count out McCoy

I think McCoy fits the young Shula comment a lot more then Philbin, you have to figure Ross will eventually say something and follow through at some point don't you?

Personally I'd be happier with Philbin and then hopefully he would bring in Clements to OC. Then we will all find out what they think of Flynn when FA starts.

But I still think McCoy gets the job.

None of the candidates represent a young Don Shula.

Don Shula took the Colts to the Superbowl as a head coach, before coaching the Dolphins.

He had experience. These guys don't.

The only thing that fits is that they're kinda young.

Mort said it, nobody in the media thinks it.... so it has to be Bowles.

Philbin sure doesn't look young.

Not sure why he is so popular around here. He doesn't call the plays and didn't develope that offense, before he was an o-line coach on a team that doesn't run the ball.

McCoy fits what Ross talked about. Philbin does not. Bowles does not. So how accurate is Ross's own words?

Why are we excited about an oc that didn't call plays?

Here's an angle I've considered: Maybe Philbin is just being brought in so that we can pick his brain about Matt Flynn?

If Mike McCoy winds up being the pick, then maybe that's been the game all along.

I keep racking my brain as to where the Dolphins are going with this search. . . and Ive got a serious feeling that Friday afternoon Mike Mccoy will be announced as the head coach.

Ross has struck out a few times already and now he's got the young Shula statement to fulfill. Only McCoy fit that bill(in terms of age alone) No matter the choice the initial PC to introduce him to the media and fan base will carry a lot of weight as far as perceived credibility. The PC is something that Ross will WANT to win after hiring any of these 3 candidates. I think McCoy is the guy to accomplish this job, he is said to be very articulate and i read somewhere that he is viewed as very "presidential" in his demeanor. He is also able to be sold as an offensive coach who is able to develop a quarterback.

On top of all of that he is the only guy who can really say he has the experience as a Coordinator in the NFL. Philbin has never called plays even though he is a offensive coordinator. Bowles is a DB coach(although he did get 3 games as the interim head Coach and was the Assistant Head coach on Sparanos Staff) Not to be discounted is he is a Defensive guy and a symbol of more of the same and would not be a change of guard that is wanted by the fanbase in South Florida.
Im not sure if he is the man for the job but Ill give him the benefit of the doubt. . . . mostly cause i have to hope he can be the solution to all the problems we've dealt with over the last decade.

I dont want Bowles (I want a guy who has actually called plays in his career)

the two others dont excite me much though. We will see

I wanted Carmichael Jr as my first choice and had Philbin as my second choice....so I wont be dissapointed if we get Philbin

I'm with you Predaphin. Carmichael was my first choice, with Philbin my second.

Frankly I am happy Fisher is out of it. Retreads have done nothing for this franchise.

dude looks soft

typical finheaven garbage, judging books by their covers and such......
Post your picture and show us what your looking for in a coach. Is it the eyes that get you ? or is it the hairline ?

Like all the good coaches in the NFL just ooze with intimidation...

Joe Philbin buried his son last week, and came back to coach the packers days later.
That's a one tough Son of a *****.

calling plays is not neccessary to be HC. Vision, coaching, and knowledge is.
