Yes, I know it doesn't matter who picks what. But I point this out only because Mort has been particularly astute this season - both in general (he's dominating the other ESPN "experts") as well as specifically related to our games.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/features/talent?week=9&seasontype=2

This year, he has been correct on 6 out of 7 Fins' games, with the only wrong prediction week 3 vs. the Pats. Particularly, he was the only "expert" to pick us vs. the Chargers, and also the only one to pick us vs. the Bills. He also picked against us somewhat surprisingly after our two big wins (which he predicted!) for the Texans/Ravens games, and I remember thinking to myself how ominous that was before the Ravens game as I was already aware of his being correct so often on our games this year.

Anyways, no need to tell me it's just coincidence and these experts don't know jack (though Mort is one of the better ones I'd say), but he's been pretty spot on this season, even when he's gone completely out on a limb (more than once). I hope he's wrong this week.

He is generally pretty pro fins....

Lately when the experts picked us, we've lost, and when they havent, we won.

And when people here say we're going to win by a landslide, we lose.
When they're a little worried we win.

I always kind of know before a game whether we win or not.
If I'm having doubts on an easy game, we lose.
Before we win, I always get a little feeling.

Right. Which is why I don't like it when he picks against us (AND he's been quite accurate this year on our games).

And this was the ONE for shizzle marked loss in everybody's schedule, and if you look at everyone's predictions so far, 90% of posters are 0-7

Mortensen is the one guy on ESPN whose opinions I actually respect. Denvers tough at home and the Broncos are going to be well rested coming off their bye. We`ve got our work cut out for us!

That's terrific news. I hate it when we are favored, and I think that with our talent deficiency this year we need to keep the guys we have hungry. We've won against some good teams and lost to some bad ones.

This is among the toughest games we will have this season.

Cutler is going to put on an air show, so the offense is going to have to put up a lot of points. And we have to do that in their stadium, in their altitude.

I don't see us winning, but I have been wrong on most games this year.

A good explaination for this would be following this train of thought.
Week 1- miami is recovering from an 1-15 season- easy pick the jets
Week 2- I was right they are not that improved- im going with arizona.
week 3- Lets continue the ride and go with the patriots.
Week 4- i was so wrong last week, maybe they have that spark some thought they would have under parcells. LT is struggling, miami is coming off of a bye week im going with the dolphins.
Week 5- Miami has never beat houston and the texans are frantic and need something, they are playing at home Texans is my best bet
Week 6-Ravens has the D to shut down the wildcat, ronnie brown and anything else they might throw at them. The dolphins are improved but not improved enough to overcome that D- I am going with the Ravens.
Week 7- Divisional game- bills has not really been tested yet, Miami has lost 2 in a row, its time for a bounce- the dolphins.

Taking that train of thought its easy, very easy to have that type of record when picking the dolphins. Sometimes when we are close to the subject we tend to over think things. HOWEVER- that way of thinking will not get you the wins as the season continues. There will be a time when he and others must realize the dolphins is not that 1-15 team from last year.

However if we take that type of simplistic thought pattern into this week you can see why he picks Denver.

I think, as we reach mid season, its a little late for that type of reasoning.

But who knows- id rather put my money on a team that can run the ball rather than one that can not STOP the run
:woot:

The truth is this is gonna be one if not our biggest game this season. I think this team knows that.

Although I have always been very critical about most experts when they go through the week matches, so still have a bit more respect for Mortensen. Fine enough that we are underdogs, it keeps us mentally ready to fight even more on sunday.

It will be one of our most important games this year. Can't wait for it!

Well....I guess Mort will be 6 of 8 on Fins picks this year after Sunday

Mort is one of the very few, if not the only "expert" that I respect on ESPN.

Mark Schlareth, former Denver Bronco, actually picked the Dolphins in an upset this weekend. He and Trey Wingo play the "Simultaneous Game" every Thursday on Colin Cowherd's show. Wingo picked the Broncos but Schlareth, in a surprise pick, chose the Dolphins. He basically called the Broncos defense an abortion and said that even their starters can't believe they're starting.
