Mortensen on local radio today

This draft was highest rated draft ever in the TV ratings.

Hehe. I can't believe some rubes believe that there might be a connection between the over-the-top licking of cake off of another dude's face, and the television ratings.

Just to be clear, my comment was in relation to those that wanted the draft moved back to April (myself included). The Sam interaction with his boyfriend had nothing to do with the ratings as it was certainly unexpected to the general viewing audience. I would say the Sam story itself probably brought some extra viewers to the later rounds, but not nearly as many as Manziel, Clowney and the volume of overall talent in this years draft as a whole..

Sam was drafted with a relatively worthless televised throw-away compensatory pick instead of being signed more anonymously in the flurry of UFA activity

Goodell and the NFL's feet are rightfully being held to the fire as racist for refusing to budge on changing the Redskins name. He needed something to blunt that image and deflect attention away from this real issue

This is not a real issue. The PC police are at it again. Redskins was the given name of the team to HONOR our native peoples and the name is in no way racist...http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-history-behind-the-name-washington-redskins/

Kroenke is already buying suiitable land in LA for when he doesn't get a sweetheart deal from St L. He needs a quid pro quo agreement to move the team

Sam was drafted by what's closest to his hometown team and accepting university fans

Connect the dots - -
Additional Dot - Michael Sam is also good diversion from addressing the Jim Irsay issue in Indianapolis. Apart from the prescription drugs addiction - the bribing of a dentist to supply drugs for seats in his Colts box - driving out of control while medicated - the death of the other woman a short time earlier in a home bought by the Colts - and we only know part of the story

Draft in May was a bad move.

Glad we didn't hire Jeff Fisher.

I'm glad we didn't hire fisher too. Now. At the time I was angry that he got away but this fiasco has league collusion written all over it.

Although I am disappointed beyond words with the leadership DO have over Don Jones.

True. Do you think Sam and his boyfriend pre-planned this and made sure there would be lots of media there to make sure they got lots of shock value?? That's what it looked like to me.

This was written in stone a few months ago. He became a political celebrity by coming out, a cause. PoTUS didn't waste time running to the mics to voice his pleasure of the situation.

The whole draft was a commercial for the Oprah. All the crying and hugging. One big PR platform for clients entering the NFL.

The ESPN hosts were shocked as the Michael Sam situation played out. Kiper and McShay were white as sheets. You could see the tension in their faces, particularly Kiper. Wingo handled it competently but lacked a memorable summation. He certainly had that opportunity. It could have been famous if he'd done it superbly, with big picture focus while also confident enough to mention the over the top physical aspect.

Only Polian looked relaxed.

I'm convinced ESPN had no idea what would happen, other than they would be tipped when/if Sam were picked. To believe it was scripted is the same laughably ignorant conspiratorial mindset that produced the insistence that Jonathan Martin was aiming for a lawsuit, since it's all about the money.

Howard Bragman, Publicist.

Has been on the Oprah Winfrey show, GMA and The Today Show. Has been honored by GLAAD. He himself is gay. PR teams were there in full force for ALL their clients. The crying after being picked by all those players was a nice show for the female crowd and the birkenstock man. Its all about image. Nothing ignorant about understanding the business of selling your client. Sam and his P.R. machine knew what they were doing and why. I wasn't shocked when it happened, I found it funny, because you could see this coming months ago.

Yeah, good point, and if you've taken your lumps in the cutthroat business world, it's actually pretty obvious. Unfortunately the predisposed myopics confuse the connectors for benign hearts :idk:

Never wanted Fisher with what 6 winning seasons out of going on 19? He's already denied that the league had a say in it. If you're gullible enough to believe he'd admit anything else, then hopefully you'll end up being the auto showroom buyer preceding me who unknowingly underwrites my next deep deal. Stan Kroenke is Goodell's handmaiden and Fisher has officially become Stan's lackey

Nail meet hammer and welcome to the real world where obtuse deniers regularly get devoured by conniving sharks. This whole Cubic Zirconia staged moment was scripted from the get-go down to onsite producers managing the "talent" for maximum effect. Even the dramatic "coming out" was farcical considering he admitted that the NFL was already fully aware of his sexual orientation. It was a crafty ploy to differentiate himself from the other achievers destined to anonymous UFA batch signings and to manipulate the league into a corner in order to defy perceived stereotypes by actually drafting him. (see "Jackson Jeffcoat")

duh.. No kidding. Welcome to the real world <not too difficult to figure out when you've been there/done that/swam with the sharks. Matter of fact I have a friend who owns an agency on Wilshire Blvd who probably knnos Bragman. Invariably reading some of these cloistered naive denials, my first reaction is "why isn't he/she ever sitting across from me at the Seminole Casino? :idk: It's just comical how so many don't have an inkling of how badly they're being played. :(

Hate the May draft,
Sam will make more money doing media stuff than he will in football,
I wonder if Fisher was asked by the league to draft Sam,

Just a personal thought that last one......no proof, just everything went hand in glove.....
