said teams will back off if they do and the Packers would have to eat $14m which will cripple their salary cap.

I don't know, they seem to be taking big steps towards franchising him. First they sign Finley to a new contract and then Jason Cole says today that they are going to cut Clifton and restructure the contract of Driver.

Not only that McCarthy spoke big of Flynn today and either him or their GM(don't recall at the moment) said they will do everything to "keep the good players on this team".

I think they franchise Flynn.

Linsanity: A galvanizing, feel-good phenomenon, featuring an unheralded benchwarmer who defied the odds including the value his league placed on him out of college, coming out of nowhere to shine against spotty competition for an 11 game stretch.

That's at least until last night when he faced an elite team with a stiffling defense in the Heat ending up being dispatched to the Linfirmary. There are some parallels, aside from the relative sample size, to be drawn with Flynn and certainly sobering cause to perhaps take a step back from the precipice of Contagious In-The-Moment Euphoria. :idk:

Rodgers is going to be there forever. You'd think they'd give Flynn up for a draft pick at worst. I don't think a 1st round pick would suffice b/c he's not a veteran

You cant Lin them all...

GB will end up getting a comp pick for losing Flynn next year anyways, so why chance no one trades for him?

I've heard reports that if GB franchises him, they're going to want a first. They've got to think Cleveland will give up one of theirs, because I can't see any other team being that nuts.

Flynn is not worth the franchise salary at this point. He is a gamble because he has very little game experience in college and the pros.
If GB franchises him, they will definitely regret the contract and will have to eat it.
Any team signing Flynn will want to sign him to a fair deal for both sides.

As I mentioned in the other thread to you... It will take MORE than restructuring Drivers deal of 2.6mil and cutting Cliftons 5.2mil. let's say they get driver down to a 1mil base salary... they are currently 4.9mil below the cap so add in 1.6mil for drivers restructure and 5.2mil for clifton and they are 11.7mil and they need to get to about 14.5mil just to afford Flynns Franchise and that is NOT including the 5mil in salary space they need to keep open for the rookie class. Put this together and they would still need to cut an additional 3mil in salary to get to the franchise number plus the 5mil for rookies and they are STILL 8mil short of being able to do this. The only guys with base Salary's big enough to cut and make this work for them would be Jennings, Woodson or Hawk and I DON'T see that happening...even if they did they would have absolutely NO room to make any other improvements to the roster and none of this even consider's the fact that it could be a direct violation of the new CBA agreement...

GBs holding a silent auction.

Who know's if they'll find a sucker .... to give them a Draft Pick AND empty their bank account to pay Flynn.

I've said all along ... Flynn's in the driver's seat, NOT GB ... with 1 yr @ $14.5 Million to start the bidding on a multi-year contract ... that's ALOT to gamble on 2 starts.

GB has to find a sucker to pay the price that GB set with the Franchise-Tag talk ... and give them a pick to boot!!

Who's the MEGA sucker? ... after Kolb & many others fell flat??

Baby-mamma drama!! ... & high probability of becoming the laughing stock of the NFL!! ... like Jethro Jones & Roy Williams trade/contract x100!! lol (Bust-a-roo on a MEGA-Contract would taint Ross's & Irelands street cred for a decade, if not forever!! ... normal contract, Not So Much = they tried)

I have always thought they would not franchise Flynn. While worth the discussion and always a possibility it makes no sense in the long run for the Packers.

If I am Miami and they tag him, I would not even look at him. NO MORE COMPENSATION for Qb's.

Mortensen and the rest of the media have gotten it wrong enough times that I don't trust reports anymore. Let me know when he signs.

Breaking news.. Packers wont tag Flynn?? Well duh!!! Thats just plain common sense they wouldnt do that.
