Though it doesn't mean anything in regards to this situation, it's well known in MLB, that Jon Heyman, a one time reporter with Newsday, SI, and now with CBS, is a mouth piece for Scott Boras. If Heyman reports something regarding a Boras client, you know that it's either true, or intentionally mis-leading, but in the end he breaks a ton of Boras client related signings and trades.
This isn't a unique situation. Reporters are well aware that if they want information, they will either knowingly or unknowingly be given false info to disseminate.
