There is NO WAY we can afford that. If we pay that we won't be about to sign any quality FA's and barely our draft picks.

He's a good player, but he's not worth that much money. He's not the second coming of Marino, Elway, Montana, Steve Young, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady.
Good teams have a certain salary structure and will not overpay. If the Saints are truly offering that, then they are a foolish and desperate organization. Financial moves like that are what keep certain teams second tier.
I don't want Brees at that price. Rather take my chances with the draft and sign other FA's to bolster our O-line, secondary and LB depth.

He doesnt even want to play in New Orleans. He is just using their offer to drive up the price from the Dolphins. Everyone just stay calm, we will get our guy.

how can that be true when he left the saints with no contract per kffl.com

That sounds like alot of money for someone that might not be their future because the way Clayton and other reporters talk is that Leinart or Young will be drafted by them. I just expect Brees to sign with the  fins being he will be our qb for years to come it makes sense anyway.

According to kffl he left NO without an offer. So someone is uninformed.

Saints | Team does not reach deal with Brees

The Associated Press reports free agent QB <A href="http://www.kffl.com/player/1650/nfl">Drew Brees (Chargers) left New Orleans Sunday, March 12, without a contract offer from the New Orleans Saints. Brees said New Orleans' rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina would not dissuade him from coming here. He said he helped build programs in Purdue and at San Diego that had been down and that the challenge of rebuilding in New Orleans appealed to him. He is now on his way to Miami.
