Moss Close To Re-signing

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Patriots are close to re-signing free agent Randy Moss.
Schefter says the Patriots have a "standing multi-year offer to make Moss one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL." Schefter is almost never wrong, but we keep hearing Moss and the Pats are close and wouldn't count out another team like the Rams, Redskins, or Eagles making a last minute run at him.

MOSS, PATS CLOSE, OR ARE THEY?​

There's a report tonight from Adam Schefter of NFL Network that the Patriots and receiver Randy Moss are close to a deal.​

Per Schefter, the Patriots have an offer on the table that would make Moss one of the highest-paid receivers in the league, and it's sounding more and more as if a deal will get done.​

But if that's the case, why hasn't Moss already signed the deal? Clearly, Moss is trying to get other teams interested. And, coincidentally, this new report could tend to scare them off.​

Indeed, a cynical person might conclude that the report was funneled to Schefter from the upper echelon of the Patriots organization with one objective in mind -- to short-circuit the market for Moss before it ever heats up.​

Fortunately, we don't know any cynical people.​

An NFL source confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that free agent Randy Moss has been shopping himself around the league.
Moss was reportedly unhappy with the Patriots' initial contract offer. However, the NFL Network reported late Sunday that the sides are closing in on a deal and there were even rumblings in Boston about a five-year deal. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Patriots have Moss locked up by Monday afternoon

Of course he is; it's business first for him. He is in his 30's; he's going to look for as much money possible before he retires, so he's using this shopping strategy as a way for the Patriots to up their offer, but he wants to stay in the Patriots as he was finally in a good team and sharing great success.

In the end, he will end up in New England.
