I was born in '78 and started watching in the mid-80's so I got to see the good, but never championship Marino/Shula teams. When Shula was getting old, it looked bad, until we brought in a coach that won NFL and college championships, Jimmy Johnson. Hope was alive, but he tired out and turned over a good team to Wannsteadt and it appears he could do something. but alas, we were good, but never great again. When his time was up, we hired a up and coming offensive co-ordinator, Cam Cameron, because our defense was good and we just need the O fixed. We all know how that worked out. I was most excited to see Saban come in and still believe he might have figured it out, if he would have stuck it out, but that was too hard for him. When Bill Parcells arrived, we had a championship coach and a man who had rebuilt several franchises. It looked good at the beginning, but soon went to pot. We then tried the offensive co-ordinator of the amazing Green Bay Packers, but I was still sceptical of him. Now he's finished and I have no hope. We have tried every formula available and none of them have worked.

I am distraught too...but it's not as bad as the 1-15 season.

It's not that bad. It's disappointing, but the grim truth is that six years of Jeff Ireland blunders can not be undone in a single off-season.

Right now you have hope that you will have a better coaching staff in 2015 and better talent at some of the positions where it is sorely lacking. I happen to like the QB and think he's the answer at the position, so from that point of view, I retain some optimism.

But ultimately it ALL comes down to Steven Ross right now.

Well at least we've been .500 and competitive into December. So it's not like we're the Raiders. Nontheless saddle up for another change this offseason.

He turned over team that loss 62-7 in the playoffs to the Jags...

I don't have the heart to tell the O.P. that there never were any "championship" Marino/Shula teams.

Am I wrong for not wanting to bring that to his attention?

I meant AFC champions and AFC East champions. Didn't they win their division alot?

Yeah not Superbowl Championships but an AFC Championship with Marino.....and lots of Shula Championships and SB's before Marino. I think he just meant he was distraught in not seeing this.....I was 5, 6 and 7 years old during our three consecutive SB trips but you just don't get into it much at that age or appreciate it.

Really it's just a numb feeling at this point. I mean what else can we do as fans?

We're still fans. We're completely tired of being irrelevant but there's nothing we can do.

I've been more distraught than this. When I heard Cam Cameron was going to be our head coach, I was mortified. When I heard we drafted the whole Ginn family, that ranked right up there, too.

This time, I think we have a QB. I think we have a couple of really good O-linemen and our skill people are good enough to get the job done. The D-line is close to being good and has a couple of excellent pass rushers. I honestly think if we get a good LB who is versatile but can rush the passer, like a Clay Matthews, even if not that good, it could spell a huge improvement all over this defense. We need a guy there with an attitude who can make plays.

It's been way worse. I like our GM and we actually have some legit young talent. Ross being an idiot is by far the worst part of this Dolphins era, but if he surrounds himself with Hickey and Marino and chooses an actual qualified HC this time then it'll be alright. There were times under Saban and Cam that there was zero young talent. Those teams had no prospects. This is different. As long as Ross doesn't **** up the coaching hire.
