:boohoo: yea seen a thread stating to post your favorite game the dolphins won so whats the best game u watched that had u at the edge of ur seat but we lost

san diego in the playoffs, 1981. despite the loss, best game i ever saw.

This is no contest. It's the '81 playoff game against San Diego, maybe the best game in NFL history. Dolphins fall behind 24-0 in the first quarter. Don Strock comes in to rally the team, and the Fins make it 24-17 on a Hook and Lateral to Tony Nathan on the last play of the first half. Fins ultimately take the lead 38-31 on another Nathan TD. Strock and Fouts take turns setting the playoff record for passing yards in a game. Fins are driving for a score to ice it when Andra Franklin fumbles. Chargers come back to tie it late on a fluke pass meant for Kellen Winslow but goes to Lionel James instead. Strock, with practically no time left, leads them to a tying FG attempt that's blocked. Chargers drive down in OT for a chip shot FG to win it, but Bernischke misses the kick. Dolphins come back to try to win it, but the Chargers block another FG. And ultimately, the Chargers drive for the winning FG 14 minutes into OT.

I am 16 years old so I didn't watch the '81 game live, so for me it has to be when we lost to the Jets blowing that huge lead in New York. That game gave me nightmares.

Nuff said....greatest game ever played.

Well since I was born in 82 . . . I will say the comeback by the Jets in 2000 . . . yea I know . . . more embarassing than exciting . . . but I remember when the Jets tied it at 30 . . . . and then 2 plays later on offense for Miami . . . Fiedler threw a bomb to Leslie Sheppard . . and made it 37-30. Stinking Jest came back still . . . but it was a memorable game for me that had me up all night on MNF

I'm with the other young guys, i was born in 85, so the jets game was crazy. crappy lose.

Wow- this is a tough one. I tend to block out ALL the games we lose. One game that sticks in my mind is the Super Bowl we lost to the Redskins. I can remember crying (I was about 8) when that f*&*er John Riggins carried a few dolphins with him on his way to a touchdown. Arghh, time to block out that memory!:boohoo:

Although I was too young to remember it, I'm guessing the 74 playoff with the Raiders and the infamous "sea of hands" play might be it. Last second loss on a classic NFL play that destroyed hopes of a "triple crown", with Csonka, Kiick, and Warfield leaving the next year for the WFL. End of a dynasty.

Most exciting one I saw was the Mia/SD playoff game in January 1982, a 41-38 loss.

Playoff loss in San Diego January 8, 1994. I was there to see them blow a 21-0 lead in the 3rd quarter, only to lose 22-21. That's the year we should have been in the Super Bowl.. San Diego went and lost to the 49ers. We could have played the Super Bowl at home that year. I was crushed. I sat in the stands as proud as can be for three quarters. Then it all went to crap!

San Diego loss in 81, I forever to this day hate Kellen Winslow, he was unstoppable.

I was one of the 300,000* people in the Orange Bowl that night as a spry 6-year-old. It's still the greatest NFL game I can say I've been to even all these years later.

*number adjusted for number of claims of attendance.

Agreed, that's by far the most devastating loss in team history. Franchise has essentially never been the same.

And it was an excellent game, opening with the TD kickoff return by rookie Nat Moore.

Unfortunately, our secondary was riddled with injuries during the game, and Benny Malone scored too damn soon.

51-45 OT v Jets 1986

Marino and O'Brien combined to set an NFL single game records of 884 net passing yards and ten touchdown passes. :hi5:

We got our revenge when we spanked them 45-3 in Miami later in the year.
