The thing that impressed me the most about game one was how the defense didn't give up a score after the offense scored.

In the past, once the offense put some points on the board, you could pretty much count on the defense (even though they had been playing well in a game) letting the other team march down the field and score.

That seemed to always happen. This time around, the offense would score, and the defense would just continue to stuff denvers offense.

After the first FG, the defense gave up one first down and forced denver to punt.

After the second FG, the defense makes denver go 3 and out, punt.

After the first TD, the defense gives up one first down to denver, then they punt.

After the second TD, the defense gives up one first down, makes denver punt.

Denver recovers a fumble from wes, and goes 26 yards to get a TD.

After the third TD, defense intercepts a plummer pass.

This is what makes a championship defenses. How do they play AFTER the offense scores? Do they melt down? Or do they step up? In years past, the Dolphins defense would give up those big plays after scoring drives. I dont see that happening anymore.

Most impressed with the play calling on ofense. After 3 plays up the gut and a punt for the wanny years. Just an old fashioned reverse can bring tears to your eyes.

The D- specifically the guys the media has been referring to as "over the hill"- Zach, Jason, Tractor Traylor, KC, Sam etc.

Welker impressed me. It seemed like he was all over the place on offense and returns. Let's hope we see more of that this season.

After watching that game, I'm just happy everyone is pretty healthy, if we can stay healthy then I think we have a chance in every game..Our best depth is LB and Safety. Our Rb's aren't bad depth wise either, even with Ricky not playing. We can't afford to lose Traylor, please, please, Chester get well.

That's a good point. And the other thing that used to happen was that the offense would never capitalize on turnovers caused by the D. It was almost like the change in momentum caused by the turnover was lost on the offense. I didn't see that last week. We got turnovers and the offense came out with some fire.

You're absolutely right!....I was impressed with our coaching staff and gameplanning on both sides of the ball....And was impressed with Gus.

I think the majority of what you have eluded to goes to game planning, and of course execution of that game plan. Not sure what Saban and Co. are doing to prepare, but it worked in week 1. Also, this was against Shanahan, maybe not the best coach in the league, but a solid coach. One other thing about the defense, I think we have depth like we havnt had in many years.
On the down side, if our running game (mostly the 0-line) doesnt start clicking, things could go bad quickly. JMHO

I was impressed that we actually played a game with an offensive game plan. So many times it looked like we were just running the same ol' plays when Wanny and his gang of ineffective O-Coordinators were here and they would cross their fingers that a play would work. It was nice to see plays being call and run and executed that attacked another teams weakness as if we actually had planned it to. It was also impressive to sit back and watch us throw a 60 yd bomb for a TD after they scored a TD and gained some slight momentum after pulling within 10 with around 9 min's left. Wanny would have curled up in the fetal position in the hopes the clock would hit all zeros before the Broncos scored 10+ points... run, run, run, punt.. The kick out of bounds helped, but for Saban and Linehan to throw the deep ball, first play out of the gate was refreshing and gives me a sense of hope for this team.. I know our running game wasn't gangbusters, but I think they realized at half time it didn't need to be and that our adjustments called for more of a pass happy attack and formations.. the little 3 and 4 yard runs here and there were effective enough to keep more players in the box.. when teams spread out more or play more honest against the pass, the running lanes will open up more.

Quick question....

Besides Shulters who's picking up the defense quickly and Bell who do we have again??

We have depth at both Rb's and Lb's. I wouldnt consider our safeties as a unit with depth yet. Same goes with our d-line specially our dt's.

I think I was most impressed by great coaching. A player that stood out for me the most though, Gus Frerotte. Aside from the one bad throw for an int, he had an excellent game that far exceeded what any fan could have expected. He did us proud as dolfans. Lets hope he can do the same to the Jets.
