Most overrated player ever!

I'd have to say Marcus Allen. He was a very good running back, but not one of the best of all time as some claim.

I don't consider Tom Brady overrated at all. The media really doesn't make that big of a deal out of him and he is the best clutch QB in the NFL right now.

You guys are reaching with Brady. In 2001 and 2003 he was the cog to the success of NE's offense. Just ask Drew Bledsoe. In 2002 he led the AFC in TD passes.

Brady is at least the 2nd best QB in the league right now and even if you disagree he's top 5 at the very least. How can a top 5 QB be overrated?????? Is there a QB in the AFC East who is as good as him???? Is there a QB in the AFC, who doesn't have the name Manning, that is as good as him. Don't let your hate for the Pats blind your judgement on this one.

heisman winner woodson, hands down. Actually won the heisman over Peyton Manning, then look how their respective NFL careers panned out.

Namath, Bradshaw, Brady.........and maybe soon to be Matt Roth?

You're implying that a a player can be overrated without having played a down in the NFL and having been in camp for a week? :goof:

Playing right now, I would say its a toss up between Vick and McNabb.

I think everyone knows Brady is nothing more than a caretaker of a good system. McNabb is similar, but with less talent. Vick is Slash2 and makes Cunningham of the 90s look like a capable QB.

Brady compares favorably to Phil Simms. A solid, consistent yet unspectacular player who played on some good well balanced/ well coached teams.
Brady is overrated in that the media keeps trying to label him the next Montana.
I personally feel he will come down a few pegs without Charlie Weiss. We all saw how average he becomes when his offense is shut down and he is forced to try and carry a team with physical ability. Only Marino and Elway could do that.
However, the most overrated has to be Vick (all style, no substance). When I hear media types stating that if they were to start a team, they would start with Vick as the centerpiece, I just have to laugh. McNabb is a close second.

It's like comparing fine wines. They're all different and everyone has their favorite.

That's a good way of saying how I often feel. I think there is a point where players are about as good as you have ever seen, and rarely does one outshine the rest so much that you can clearly say he's the one best ever at everything. Sure you can say this guy was the best decision maker, this guy won the most often (with his team helping), that guy had a cannon arm but this guy was more accurate, etc.

I just get pissed when they say stupid things like (Bills fans) Kelly was better than Marino! Ok, compare Montana, Otto Graham, etc. with him, but Kelly? There are a handful that you cannot clearly separate maybe and Marino is among them. Kelly does not belong in that group for example.

Jerry Rice as a receiver is the exception. No comparison. Michael Jordan, maybe. But there are a handful of QB's from different eras, different teams, sets of rules, etc. that make clear comparison difficult. Unless one outshines the rest by a mile, which has not happened yet.

Jake Plummer, Rueben Droughns (you can put a parapelagic in that system and behind that line and He'd have an 1,000+ yard season) Bernie Kosar, Jason Whitten (wow one good year and he's top a Tight End) and Brian Urlacher (When he's healthy he plays well.)

I forgot about Plummer.
What in the world has the man done in the NFL to warrant the attention he gets?

Way off base. Comparing brady to Montana is arguable. Afterall Brady has run a "clutch" offense with much less to work with than the great Joe Montana. Lets look at the 01 and 03 Pats (pre Corey Dillon days) Brady didn't have players that compared to Rice, Taylor, Craig or even Brent Jones yet whenever the pats needed to make a play he made it. Unfortunately I've watched a lot of Pats games and if anyone would like to challenge me on the many clutch plays made by Brady I guarentee you'd be more than happy with the outcome. I hope this board is not selling Brady short due to one Monday night game against a 2-11 team where motivation could have been a huge factor. There were 15 more games that season boys and Brady and his team one 14 of them.

I admit, I'm not really an advocate of praising individual players for the success of a team but if it's good for Joe Montana then it's good for Tom Brady also.

If Brady's so overrated, name 5 active QB's you would take over him??????

Montana wasn't overrated, he just wasn't as good as Dan but that doesn't make him overrated.Maybe Drew Brees? He had a great year but lets see him do it again.BTW,I didn't read the whole thread so maybe he was mention.

Ozzy rules!!

I left 4 work 7 hours ago come home and the thread is still going.I started it to pass time glad i could help.thanks for the great posts I enjoy reading all your opinions.:D

Tom Brady

I hate the SOB, but some guys just flat out get it done when the game is on the line. There is no way that you can say this guy is overrated.
