No.
I am not a fan of this. There are still too many weak teams in that conference and you can say that this team and that team will get better or is on the rise, but the truth is, no one really knows. If the rest of the conference stays below average, Utah and BYU will dominate it year in and year out, get into the title game and get trounced by Florida, USC, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Let's look at what we DO know.
A. Utah and BYU are legit every year.
B. The Pac 10 is a weak conference and at the end of the year, USC's 1 loss hurts them—and it should.
However, Florida and Oklahoma both lost 1 game and in the end, it didn't hurt them as bad because they play a conference championship. Why not realign the Pac 10 by inviting BYU and Utah the same way the ACC did with Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College. Now, the Pac 10 can send two teams to BCS bowls. USC goes to the title game, and possibly Oregon or Oregon State to the Rose Bowl. It makes for better football. The Big 10 and the Pac 10 NEED to have 12 teams and a conference championship games. It makes for better football.
Anyone else think that this makes perfect sense?
