I get that Tank, who's on IR now, and McTyer were not stepping up to claim the boundary spot opposite X. That's when we moved McCain to CB and Minkah over to slot, at least some of the time. By moving everyone around, all the members of the secondary had to learn a new positions and we have made tons of mistakes trying to figure it out. When guys have to adjust in games, on the road to a new position on the fly, missed assignments happen and we've seen loads.

So, once and for all, pair Minkah with Jones at Safety. Start McTyer opposite X and scheme him some help. Find some snaps for McDonald, be creative. The entire pass defense is paper tissue and has been for 3 games. We can't stop anybody so a shake up is called for. My logic is that I'd rather see one CB struggle and have a bad game than to see the whole pass defense fall apart.

Watching McCain against Houston I do not believe he is entirely recovered from the injury he came back from. He actually didn’t look too bad on the boundary the first few games. Regardless, is still rather see him man the slot and keep that as a position of strength. Playing multiple players out of position to make up for one deficiency only creates more deficiencies. Not smart.

I hear what you're saying, but the only player that "moved around" was mccain. Minkah played mostly slot in college, and he played a lot of it in camp/preseason also. The safeties havent changed, so yea... Mccain is the only one that moved. That being said however I do agree with keeping Mccain in the slot for several reasons.
1. That's where McCain is best at
2. Minkah is our only shot at a true ball hawking FS.
3. If they saw Minkah as a slot cb then it was a bad pick because you do not draft a slot cb that damn high.

YES, YES, YES BSQ!!! Could not agree with you more. FITZ has to be our primary FS. Period, end of story. McCAIN is getting exposed, eh. He needs to be back at HIS primary position, slot. He needs to live or die there. This coaching staff is once again making me crazy. :nuke:

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Fritz play one game at safety this year due to an injury to one of our Safeties and he looked horrible at it?

Yes he did, and it was pretty bad but I think the general assumption is that he struggled due to being thrown there after playing mostly slot all offseason and during the season until then. Or at least that's what we all hope.

Finally drafting an elite playmaking talent after years of bad drafting then playing him at slot is as dolphins as it gets.

Honestly I’d rather send McCain to the bench. He’s awful outside and not much better in the slot. Horrible contract for a replacement level player.

Why can't minkah play boundary to get him more snaps? He's been the best in the league when targeted. Why can't he just play man against whoever he's covering? Is it that different?

McDonald doesn't need any snaps. He is one of the worst starting safeties in the league....still, I would leave him starting and Bobbie playing boundary because this year is over and the Dolphins need an entirely new FO and coaching staff, and a higher draft position can be enormously helpful.

I get the mind set. We've been God awful but we're still 4-4 with a home game against the Jets. At 5-4 the season isn't over, yet.

You're a very optimistic person and I praise you for it. I used to think that way about the Dolphins every year but they have broken my heart so many times I just don't believe in them anymore. Seen this movie and it always ends the same way but yet, here I am always watching and following the team anyway.
