Just a question here, but if we couldn't find a trade down partner and Saban wanted to save money on our 1st round draft pick, couldn't we just let time run out on our pick?

Also, if you did let time run out on your pick, can you just jump back in anytime with your draft selection?

Boomer?

bad idea. you just slot in at the next spot, you've lost leverage on your pick and any agent worth his salt is going to demand #2 money anyway....

bad bad bad!!!

:D

Yes you can..... aka Vikings..... but i dont think my nerves could take that drama......not worth the risk....

So if we did that, we would have to pay #2 money anyway? That sucks!

Minnesota did it. I guess we can to. They should come up with some sort of penalty for doing it. Because the team that picks AFTER us has to pay more for their pick. I doubt Saban would do that. Too much class to just slide down the draft board and piss off other teams. We'll either trade or pick at #2.

the whole purpose of moving down is to get more picks, not because of money and, as prevoisly stated, the fins will still have to pay #2 pick money.

Minnesota paind for that picks money and was the laughing stock of the draft.

I'm sure Saban doesn't want to look that foolish, esp. when he has to pay #2 money anyway.

What hapened is the vikes thought they was trading and were working deep into their clock time it blew up in their face and after that they made the other mistake of claiming that they still got the guy they wanted wich hinted the agent to ask for more cash

who did minnesota end up drafting that year?

Mckinne... the OL from Miami......cant remember his name i think they had a holdout for awhile because the agent wanted money for the spot he was suppose to be taken at...

No, you would not have to pay #2 money, but yes I agree that the greedy a$$ agent would pursuer it. A good example is Philip Rivers who held out for #1 compensation when the Giants traded him to San Diego...Conversely (and disagreeing with tartan y fronts) It proved to be a bad thing for Rivers who never had an opportunity to beat out Drew Brees and is riding the pine right now.

Plus, do you know how dumb that would make us look.
