I think we should try to move out of #1 at all costs. $35,000,000 guranteed is a lot of money for any player, especially an unproven one. I see 3 trade scenario's that make sense for the Dolphins...

Scenario 1: The Dolphins Trade #1 Overall and Ricky Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for #22, #28, Marion Barber, Bobby Carpenter, and Marcus Spears

Scenario 2: The Miami Dolphins trade #1 to the Bengals for Chad Johnson, #9, and the Bengals 3rd Rounder

Scenario 3:The Miami Trade #1 to the Falcons for #4 and both of their 2nd Rounders(#36) and (#50).


Which of those would you prefer?
 
The smartest of the three would be #1 IMO because we would be getting players AND picks. Not to mention that we would probably have one of the most explosive running attacks in the league. We could also get Ricky out of here. I really don't think he's going to be close to the back that he was a while ago considering the fact that he's 14 pounds heavier than when he left the league to go to Canada. Getting youthful players that have been in the league already, along with an extra pick would be my choice.

EDIT: Then, we could make a separate trade with the Bengals and get Chad here:woot:
 
I agree. #1 is probably the best bet and most likely to happen. Not sure about Marion Barber but I'd take their 2 first, Bobby Carpenter and Marcus Spears and maybe a late round pick for our #1.

Will be able to - meh.

I don't think people are going to be beating down the path to our door for the #1. We will shop it, but I think the most likely scenario is still us picking #1 overall come late April.

I'm still hoping that rumor about us making a trade with Dallas pulls through. I'm a huge fan of the ground game.
 
Of these, I would go with the third scenario

That would give us 4 seconds and the #4 overall, there is a chance that DMC is still on the board, if so, then we could swing the Cowboys trade......

Agreed. I have seen a few mention the possibility of just letting the time expire a la Minnesota a few years ago (whether they did they did that intentionally, who knows...) but I wouldn't be surprised if Bill did something like that; someone may trade on a spur of the moment impluse. The only thing would be that player that the Dolphins select still wanting #1 guranteed money if the trade doesn't happen.

I'd prefer #3, but we're going to have to pull a major smokescreen job about us wanting Ryan/McFadden or whomever Atlanta wants, but I like this scenario the best of the 3.

Agreed. This would be awesome for us. We still get a top four player plus we would absolutely OWN the second round. (Which has a lot of gems.)

That being said why on Earth would Atlanta trade up? I guarantee you they will be able to get either a Matt Ryan or Darren Mcfadden at 4.

I like options 1 and 3. Get picks and some young talent with Scenario 1. I dont like cj for the simple fact that we dont have anyone to throw to him and this leads to problems with Moss, Owens, Johnson type recievers. Scenario three is alright except for the High first round pick these top ten picks are expensive and risky, i like the picks Dallas can offer in the 20's because of the money.

Has the coin-flip between them and Oakland occurred yet? Oakland has the potential to have the 4th overall selection; but if they are stuck at 5. The scenario of a trade there might work if we project we're taking McFadden - regardless of how many fluffy bunnies suffer.

It would be a hard sale to convince anyone (in professional football) that we are taking McFadden #1. I mean really...it's just not going to happen, and teams know it. The more likely scenario is that we spread the word that multiple teams are interested in trading up to number 1 for him to fan the flames of interest.

Yes, you've got me there. That's probably the best scenario, and most realistic.
 
Imagine if we got the Falcons trade and then traded that Pick to the Cowboys for #22, #28, Marcus Spears, and Bobby Carpenter. That would give us...
