GM will have autonomous responsibility. He will report to Mr. Ross.
We will begin interviewing candidates for the General Manager position tomorrow. It will be a thorough process with the goal of bringing the best person to help us build a team that will be a consistent winner. Carl Peterson will serve as an advisor to me on this search. Carl and I have had a business relationship for almost 30 years dating back to the USFL and I have tremendous respect for his experience and judgment on team building and football operations. He will advise me on the search but he will not have a role with the Dolphins after the process is over.

Key word: the GM will be autonomous and report directly to Ross.

Good. I guess we can thank Jeff and Armando for the fact that he actually had to issue a statement on this.

Coach Philbin and his staff are continuing their offseason activities while conducting interviews for the offensive coordinator position.

Hmm, so Coach Philbin and company are in charge of finding the OC and not the new GM?

Well there you have it, that tells me that Ross is looking for a GM to run the organization and make final decisions on football matters.

Well based on what I have read today I thought we were hiring one of those boardwalk fortune tellers... lot of wasted band width and freebie clicks for the beat.

Shocking news considering what we've had to read today.

Yes Philbin is on the hot seat..., this is the best position for Ross to be in..., lose your out..., win a PO spot you are in...

GM will be able to breathe down Philbin's back if need be -> I think Philbin will stay and I like his demeanor, i prefer the coach not to be the cheerleader

He reminds a few of us of Tom Landry

We should have no problem hiring Tom Gamble or someone like him now. The new GM will be the franchise overlord.

That's what I like to hear. He should've put this statement out right after firing Ireland.

He should not have had to but thanks to Mando (Ireland) he was forced to. No other team has to issue that statement.
