What are we the blind leading the blind? You NEVER offer a candidate unless you know they WILL accept. NEVER. Now we look desperate and everyone else knows they weren't the 1st choice. This stinks just like the Harbaugh/Sparano fiasco and obviously shows Ross has not learned from his mistakes. We got played--again. Ross may be a billionaire but he's an idiot.

If Steve Ross still thinks he has what it takes to own a football team then we are in deeper trouble and this is not going away anytime soon. Prepare for many more fiascos like this one.

I really don't understand how a billionaire can be so unable to close a deal. That's what he does for a living, he negotiates deals! Yet as an NFL owner, he has been rejected by how many people now? I think we are on two hands by now. Just flat out embarrassing. It seems like a freaking mattress salesman could do a better job closing a deal than Ross. Just perplexing.

Good God, calm down people. The Pats drafts and FA have been AWFUL.

Its no longer about the person, it's about the reputation of the franchise as a whole. Countless debacles by Ross every offseason he's owned the Dolphins. This once proud franchise is starting to lose the luster. And when that happens......

Starting? The luster has been gone for years. Many many years

Well it takes two sides to complete a deal. Naturally I'm disappointed that Caserio rejected the offer, but it is what it is. You can whip yourself into a frenzy saying that he doesn't know how to close a deal but he's only the biggest real estate developer in New York City so I think that he knows more about closing deals than any of us.
For most people the opportunity to be a general manager plus a 100%+ increase in salary package would be very enticing. There is the possibility that he had zero intention of accepting the position in the first place and came to exploit the opportunity with the Kraft family (and get as much information as he could).
Now this will give someone else the opportunity. Look on the bright side, at least Ireland has gone and we will get someone new. I would also expect Gaine to be offered the position, but one never knows.

I didn't want to be the one to say it. I'm just in shock that we have sunk to this level. I think in 15 years we will all look back at this and laugh and say, remember when that bum Steve Ross owned the team. This is as we are all getting ready to watch the Fins play in the Super Bowl.

starting to lose the luster?? you cant be serious man, this organization has to be the biggest joke in the entire nfl. the dolphins havent been relevant for over a decade.

Irrelevant. This is not about the draft or FA. It's about our credibility as a franchise. Ross has blown this again by allowing this search to leak to the media. After 3 friggin days of interviews the candidate should know if he wants the job. You don't let him leave and think about it. "If we offer would you accept?" If he cannot answer after 3 days of Q & A then move on but now its all over the media and we look like a bunch of incompetant, desperate clowns.

No the Dolphins are not a joke. They were one win away from the play offs.

Sherman is gone, that alone makes them a better team for this up coming season.

Just because he knows real estate doesn't mean he know $h!t about how the NFL works. He already proved what an incompetant he was with Harbaugh. Thats the problem with guys like him. They are so successful that they think they are successful at everything. Well he's not a brain surgeon and he obviously didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express. What a complete moron.

As a fan you want to defend your team and your franchise, but this mess is not defensible. There is no silver lining.

Not that my opinion means that much....but my view is Ross wants to win but really seems in over his head. It sure seems like he IS the problem here.

Our front office is a joke and we have been for a long time. They make all the decisions and that's the problem. We were only one win away because everyone above us kept losing. We couldn't close the deal on the field vs the Jets or Buffalo. Sherman may be gone but we are still a talentless offensive team with a bunch of boobs picking players. Our draft was a complete disaster and so was free agency. I will bet you we will not be better than 8-8 in 2014. It's a clusterf¥€<
