Mueller stated that ideally the BPA is the way to go especially in the first round. (Need the link. Check out the draft 1 on 1 video at miamidolphins.com)
This of course can be part of the smokescreen, although it matches his draft history. I think its a position in which a bad pick can set a team back for a long time, especially at QB. So picking the BPA can lower the chance at failure. Mueller did also say that picking the BPA coupled with a need is the homerun in the draft.

Who do you think will be the BPA at 9. (Not the guy you want to be there)

Here are the 2 players I feel will be available and best options.

Patrick Willis-Although a MLB is not an immediete need. He would be the ideal replacement for Thomas in 2 years. The only problem is he doesnt contribute this year unless someone gets injured.

Ted Ginn Jr. (I cant believe im saying this, because he is not exactly who I want.)

But the guy contributes on special teams immedietely and most importantly he can let Chambers play the slot and call the double coverage from a safety. Additionally he would keep 8 guys out of the box and help the run. Our offense gets a huge boost and will keep defenses guessing.

P.S. As much as I hate the idea, Quinn will be gone.

Go phins.:cooldude:

Anything any of us hear at this piont is crap unless you look at draft history need and coaching situation.

Best player!!!!!!

If Quinn is gone,if Peterson is gone.brown is not the answer. Quinn, ,AP,Landry,Okoye, maybe Willis or Branch. As much as I want Quinn at 9,Im not so sure Stanton or Edwards wont be nice with either 2nd.No diss against Ronnie but AP cant be passed at 9.He would be the better score at 9.i love Brady but AP is LT or close to me.Neither is probably gonna fall 2 9.But Im wishing for AP more than BQ.Draft AP and figure it out.Like Calvin to TB ,AP is a stud.CJ and Ap are the studs of the draft.I like J Thomas alot but I LOVED Gallery. We all diss the Raiders but Gallery was the pick of the draft. He should have went #1 overall at draft.Things change obviousley,CJ or AP are LOCKS.Figure it out at 9,as long as it aint Brown,Ginn,Branch or Hall.Quinn,AP, Landry,Wilis or Okoye are the only answers.Otherwise trade down(if u can I know its difficult) for L Brown ,Olson,Bowe,Staley,Willis or Meachem.FFF Hall, Jarrett, Gonzalez, and Brown at 9.Our staff knows a lot more than we do,maybe Alabi,Toledo and even Hagan r worth more than we think.I hope were looking for Houston, Staley,Stanton,Edwards,Patrick, Merriweather,K Brown,Bain,Snelling or Yanda the first day. maybe I'm a homer but i feel we can compete 2day and build 4 the future at the same time.Draft a superstud at 9 and hope were nowhere near the top 10 in the future.

no Levi, draft studs at 9.AP,Brady,Okoye,Landry,Willis, or even Branch,Anderson,Revis or Carricker. No Levi or Ginn!!!!!!!!!!

Laron Landry, Amobi Okoye and Levi Brown. If Adrian Peterson slides to nine, you bet your butts Mueller drafts him. This no knock on my boy Ronnie, but Cam what love to have the possible second coming of LT in Miami. Also Mueller while with the Saints and having Ricky drafted Mcallister.

AP in our backfield with Ronnie would be awsome. It would be somwhat like what the Saints did last year coupling Bush with Duece. Bush was best bpa so they took him. I would be fine with this as long as Quinn is already off the board though.

Obviously no Quinn. Here is a small tidbit Staton might be a late first Rounder, dont believe me check this out:

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome produced the biggest revelation of the day when he said there could be a quarterback that the team would take with the 29th pick of the first round.

Seems like we wont only select BPA in the first, but how about also in the Second.

Oh BTW here is the link:

He will pick the BPA that will help the team the most this year. Okoye and Brown fit that right now

Hey, thanks for the that link. After Quinn, I am not sure which qb I like the most. Only one I know i dont want is Beck, and thats because he is already 25.

Levi Brown has been a top pick all along. He easily could be perceived as the BPA @ 9 if Peterson and Quinn are gone. Whether you "like" him or you don't Brown has been up there even with his 5.4 40 at the combine. Somebody must have watched his game films and performance at the Senior Bowl or else he would've dropped like a rock after the combine performance. Branch's stock has dropped even though he looked excellent at the combine. Reason: he showed up out-of-shape at his Pro Day but more importantly, they watched "game film" of him and he didn't make many plays. Willis's stock elevated after his tremendous Pro Day workout. So if Brown is selected @ 9, it will be based on his game film, not his workouts. We should be comfortable with that if he's selected.

Brown, Carriker, Peterson would be better than Willis. Now if they take Staley (who's having a meteoric rise) over Willis, that might constitute a reach, but it seems that QBs and LTs are in a different category than other positions as to what constitutes a reach....

Somewhere I read that Willis is more of a cover-2 LB rather than a 3-4 backer, but I could be wrong. To take him because he's the BPA and him not really fit your system would be rather dumb too. Perhaps one of the draft guru's can confirm or deny this about Willis, but that would be my only concern about taking him whereas Brown is a need position as well as in the group that might be available to us and Carriker, while not a need would likely be in the rotation from day one...

While I totally agree with what you say, combine results can be "football" misleading. He is a LT for crying out loud!

The problem I see, is that Mueller has a higher grade for Staley than Brown and does not like Brown. If he truly see's it this way, I will lose respect for our coaching staff and Mueller's abiltiy to truly evaluate talent at a particular position. If this is the case, Brown will never even be considered at 9 to be drafted and we all know that Brown aint gettin past Houston.

Willis, Landry, Quinn, Peterson and Okoye are all good picks but I do not see us needing a DT like alot of so called experts see. I actually see us needing a DE more. Carriker? maybe a tiny reach at 9 but who knows.

I do not get the defensive technique thing when it comes to players like Willis. He is a stud LB pure and simple and should fit into any defense that require tackling machines who cover alot of ground in a hurry.
