I see that some of you are againts the playcalling of Mike Mularkey but in my opinion it's exciting...
I like the pay where Ronnie Brown caught the ball and gain like 10 yards because he was so wide open..
I also like where R. Brown threw a pass to Chambers, hopefully Marty Booker will run that play next time..
The way Wes Welker is being used more than last year gives us a 3 D offense..
I don't see why some of you don't like the playcalling because our offense had the ball for almost the whole 1st half against a pretty good Panthers D...We move the ball slowly but surely..

I can't wait to see more trick plays...

yeah i really liked the way he called that play on the goal line. the one where he had jeno james try to pull makes perfect sense dont it? "he said with a sardonic insiduosly ironic grin".:shakeno:the only thing i agree with you on is your name LMAO!!!!!!

We haven't really seen his playcalling too much. Saban's pretty much come out and said they've kept it simple as they are trying to build Culpepper's confidence and take it slow.

I do think we keep it pretty vanilla during preseason don't we? At this point, I really can't say what M's style will be...I'll save that until the 4th game of the season, but I'm sure depending on who we're playing, it will change week to week..but I'm sure the pass is the big part until our run O catches up.

Pre season.

Anyone who thinks we've really seen anything other than vanilla
playcalling is delusional, IMO.

That pull on the goal line was awful, though.

Think about last year. Yes, Mularkey wasn't here, but my point is that we looked very vanilla, uninspired and generally poor offensively, yet when the season started it was a whole different ball game...Let's just wait and see. This was the first (and probably only) preseason game that there was any kind of game planning, and it was pretty vanilla. Besides that, we didn't get much done with any consistency because of the OL play this past two weeks...

He shouldn't have called the counter trap on the goal line on 4th & goal ( a straight run or a QB sneak would have great but it would be too risky for Daunte), but I am liking some of the calls. The short passing plays that he uses as running plays and using his backs and TE's. A few more shots down the field would help, Chambers could benefit greatly from having a QB with a real arm this year.

well i live in rochester NY 1 hour from buffalo and i can't tell you how many stupid play calls he's made i just hope saban keeps him in control

Yea he was the HC, but in Pitt he was a mastermind as the OC, I think that is better suited for him.

Saban will do what he did with stupid linehan last year. The only differance is if Mularky cooses to pass the ball 43 times and onlt run it 17 like linehan he will have culpepper throwing it instead of Gus. By the way Saban eventually moved Linehan out of the booth and had him on a leash incase you missed that last year and we all of the sudden started winning.

You said that play was awful, but if we cannot try some of the plays in preseason, how the hell we will know which play works and which play to erase from the playbook.!!!

Mularkey will work out great (I predict). We're not going to show any glimpses at our playbook until the REAL season starts.

Watching the game live I was a little concerned with the play calling and particularly how we weren't throwing it deep. After going back and watching the first half for the second time though I don't think it was as much that we weren't trying to get it deep as much as we just had a lot of plays where the short receiver was wide open. Looked like Culpepper just did a good job of taking what the offense gave him and did a good job of moving the offense. I feel a lot better about it now then I did when I watched the game live.

Edit-Goal line play was still bad though.

guys it's pre-season, you don't open your playbook in pre-season

SLYFOX Im sure you also loved the play Linehan called the pass play on last year against the Falcons when we were on the 2nd yrd line and could have run in it to score....That play caused us a game. In Preseason the plays on our playbook are not shown.....So in Reality what we are using are disguise plays so relax it is preseason.....Come on you think in the regular season Culpepper wont go long i 3 games.
