Why did we hire these guys?

:boohoo:

This is what I wrote in another thread:

I hated it when they hired "Bunch of" Mularkey in the offseason, and I hate it now!

Here's a good idea...let's hire the head coaches of the two teams with the worst records and bring them in as our offensive and defensive coordinators! I was shaking my head then, and I'm beating my head against a wall now!

I agree completely. But im not going to fault Dom Capers too much because its not his fault our qb sucks and our secondary sucks. I could understand if other people were wide open but just like today when andre johnson was covered by 2 of the dolphins players... and he took the ball outta the air right in the middle of our players... thats not coaching... thats lack of effort and or skill in the secondary. His scheme isnt killing us.... its the players in it. Now Mularkey and Daunte are a SERIOUS problem. period.

Maybe because Capers is one of the most innovative defensive minds to ever coach. Mularkey....Well, somone thought he was talented once and, he brings perspective. I'd just like to know what magic dust you guys would sprinkle on our OL to make them all of a sudden good. Mularkey is doing a pretty good job from what I've seen considering our OL is complete garbage. You guys would all be screaming like girls if he ran Ronnie into a DT two yards deep in the backfield again and again.

I dont like our defensive schemes we have DB's doing run coverage and LB's doing pass coverage switching off leaving recievers open during the transition it just seems more like college D not something you see succesfully run in the NFL too much. We dont let our players play to their strengths we are forcing them to play to a scheme that does not suit them well. Having said that though I thought the D played well today Allen looked good covering Johnson I cant fault him for the breakdowns in the 4th quarter because the guy played his heart out all game and when the ***** being slung your way all game your gonna break down eventually regardless of who you are. Johnson is a damn good reciever and for Allen to only give up what little he did being on his own covering the guy most of the game is impressive. He did get faked out pretty bad on that bootleg Carr made for 6 though

I always said it, these hires make absolutely no sense. Both of these will be looking to head coach, or move along in the future, forcing our offense to once again have to adjust to new coordinators. Also, Mularkey seemed like he was completely lost in Buffalo, and somehow we all knew that.

The secondary played well today. Consider that Houston has a very talented Quarterback and Receivers and that is the only strength of that team.
Mularkey must stop calling trick plays and gadget plays. The first play of the game on offense was a disaster. Putting Jason Taylor on offense last week was getting to cute. I could keep going on and on. The only good plays that Mularkey calls are the reverses to Chambers.

That was horrible!!! Allen has 1 assignment in that situation, and it's covering the backside for the very reason of a bootleg like that! He blew it!

Niether will be a head coach again. Though, Mularkey has a better chance than Capers.

I've watched Capers Defenses since Steeler days. His defenses have been solid - but certainly not innovative.

The Steeler and Patriot style blitz schemes have surpassed Capers'. He's pretty much a basic D coach these days. I haven't seen anything that demonstrates this defense is improved from last year - especially give that all four games have been against poor to mediocre offenses.
