While Culpepper is struggling and some believe it's because of injury, running back Ronnie Brown is struggling as well, but his lack of numbers can be pointed towards offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey. He's running the ball 36.2 percent of the time and the team is No. 3 in the league in receptions. The problem: he's just not running the football. Brown leads the team with 19 receptions.

Here is a link with some of the info. Even if it is from a fantasy football guy the #'s are a joke. We haven't been behind by that much to justify passing the ball 64% of the time.

According to the stats I'm keeping, I show Miami has rushed the ball 89 times and there have been 134 pass attempts.

Bottom line; the phins are only running 39.9% of the time. It is quite a switch from the wadball days of Vanilla Dave. Back then, running just 52% of the time was almost Martz-like.

I don't want them to go back to the days of Wanny, but keeping something close to a balanced attack makes sense.

It's worse than that....

Culpepper has 134 passing attempts, and has been sacked 26 times....combine that with the 5-8 QB scrambles (that were designed passes) and we have had around 165-168 designed passing plays. That's 41.25-42 designed passing plays per game; our runningbacks have 74 combined carries and our WRs have have a combined 4 carries. So it's more like 168/78 pass/run. Around 68% of our plays have been pass by design (though some of those plays broke down and Culpepper had to scramble).

If they keep passing and don't keep it balanced Daunte will have 2 broken legs and a torn shoulder by week 9.

...and people want Harrington to start? I'd like to see how Harrington does dropping back around 68% of the time....

we dont need to run 54% like the wanny years, we just need to find a balance, this team is built to be a balanced attack

yet we are kind of trying to win a fight with one hand tied behind our backs

we need to run, plain and simple, it will help out our passing game in soem aspects also.

The reason they keep passing is because Daunte keeps taking sacks I haven't seen him throw the ball away ONCE this season. Perhaps if he didnt take a sack on first and 10 we wouldn't be forced into passing every second and 20 and third and 30.

I really think if Linehan was still here for you guys, your O would be *much* better. He got Daunte to play like an MVP when Moss was out for a good portion of the 2004 season.

Yeah, gotta agree with you there. Mularky's calls have been pretty bogus most times...he's ignoring the fact that we have a solid RB and a line that cant pass block, and his HB pass call on the 2 pointer that could've tied the game? Just ridiculous.
