the tuck rule is to the raiders, as the music city miracle is to the bills.

oh stop your crying, that was not a foward lateral.

Thanks for your opinion you hoodlum.

There's no doubt about it, it was a forward lateral. Just like the tuck was a fumble.

Honestly, and not just because it was the Bills, I really thought that throw was side to side. Especially the way Wycheck threw it.

That's fine, but it wasn't. That play is burned into my memory. I have seen it hundreds of times and everytime it still is a forward lateral. In all accounts, we should have never put ourselves in that position.

I haven't seen it hundreds of times I can admit. I wish someone had a copy of the game so they could crop that part out for us to see.

ive seen it over 100 times to. most football fans have seen it 100 times or more. and most football fans agree it wasnt a foward lateral.

Yeah man his arm was farther out that his foot, and if you judge by where Wycheck's foot is, the throw is about a half foot behind where the ball ends up. Not where his arm was.

The interesting part about this play was the call on the field. A foward pass was not called, therefore the replay needed to show inconclusive proof that it was. It didn't.

If the lateral had been called foward, which i think it should have since there is absolutely no way the line judge knew for sure from where he was standing that it wasn't (he was about 5 yards behind the play) the replay again wouldn't have been sufficient to turn the play, thereby ending the game at the 30 yard line. I'm a Bills fan. I think the pass looks as lateral as you can get. But i still feel it was a bad call on the field. Even though it probably turned out correctly, there's just no way the line judge saw that from 5 yards back.

I've always been curious about this play. I'm hoping someone can clarify the nitty-gritty of the rules.

From where is the forward point of the thrower marked? Is the ref supposed to mark the thrower's foot or the ball as the "starting point" for the throw?

Likewise, where is the forward part of the catcher marked? Is the ref supposed to mark his foot or the ball?
