As much as some people hate Jeff Ireland, if the Philbin and Tannehill era has any chance of succeeding, Ireland probably needs to stick around. Once Ross fired Sparano and retained Ireland, it probably needs to be looked at as a clean slate. Perhaps Ireland doesn't deserve that, but more front office turmoil after this season will only continue to harm this franchise. If Philbin gets 3 years starting in 2012, so does Ireland. Might not seem right, but it is probably accurate.

No one gets 3 years anymore. It's a year to year business. If Ireland doesn't win this year he'll be fired.
 
I dvr this game and I just noticed they skipped an entire series when the Dolphins were on offense. They kicked the ball off to us at 6:31 left in the first quarter and went to commercial. We must have went 3 and out and then Carolina lines up with the ball at 4:58 on their own 20. Didn't even get to see the punt. That is some terrible broadcasting right there.
 
Just watched the so called pass interference call on Sean Smith. Terrible call. He was turned around and playing the ball. Great play by Sean Smith and a bull **** call.

Yep that is the situation we are in, I said when we kept Ireland it becomes for 3yrs especially with a rookie QB. I don't see that changing unless this team wins 2 games and is the laughing stock! Like it or not it is what it is.
 
Re Ireland and getting fired you really need to understand the dynamic between Parcells, Sparano and Ireland, and between Philbin and Ireland. If Ireland was basically administering what Parcells and Sparano dictated then it is hard to criticise him. This is the position I would take and suggest that people like Columbo were due to Sparano wanting him i.e. Ireland as GM was getting the players his coach wanted. Last year a year without Parcells but with Sparano the draft was clearly a bit different, and this year even moreso with Philbin. So this is really what we need to understand, is the GM effectively servicing what the coach (and previously BP) requires and defers to his judgement, or is he much more of a decision maker and gives the coach 'his' players?
 
If jeff don"t go there will be nobody in the seat at the ball field
