Amazing how a team that was not supposed to sniff a playoff has so many upset about not winning a playoff game. This was a team that is still in progress and the wildcat hid alot of our problems.

Qb- Pennington played well all year and was the number one reason we were a playoff team. He should be the incumbant and Henne has to prove he deserves to take the job. Beck should be kept to develop as the backup/emergency guy. not his fault he was overdrafted but he is worth keeping in that role. i would not use a draft pick or free agent pickup to address but would look at an undrafted free agent to push beck. No changes necessary. Henne is our qb of future. A-

Rb-Very good trio of backs who compliment each other well. Brown and Williams are virtually interchangable and Cobbs has become a real weapon.
No need to upgrade, maybe try to develop Lex Hilliard as a fullback but definately a roster strength.

Fb- Polite was used more than any fullback in recent memory and it felt good to have a fullback that can actually play the position. Cramer was ok early on. Would develop Hilliard and maybe look for a top guy if available but polite seems a solid guy. Upgrade if you can but definately not a weak area.

Wr- Ginn and Bess are coming off of solid years, Bess probably had the best year of any wr esp after losing Camirillo. London is still raw and Wilford is a waste of space. London will be worth giving a chance to but Cam may have trouble coming off of injury. definately think we need to get a physical receiver who can actually make some plays on his own. Would rather draft a guy or maybe sign a younger guy. Definately needs addressing but we have developed some solid pieces.

TE- a suprising area of strength. Fasano and martin make a good combo. haynos is just a roster spot that needs upgrading. If a player drops address but only if they are too good to pass up.

OL-With Long, Smiley and Satale we have some solid players in place. Think if we can afford need to resign Carey and hope that Thomas comes back from injury. Still have Murphy to develop.Alleman may be worth keeping. Need to draft one more good lineman to add to mix but still makings of a damn good line.

DL-Personally think we are pretty damn good at DE with Starks, Wright, Merling,Dotson and Langford but need to draft a Dt badly because Ferguson is a short term guy with downside approaching. Solai should be gone, has shown a penchant for nothing but suspensions. I think holliday may be gone in offseason. Definately need to draft a DT.

LB-Porter had a great year rushing the passer but faded down the stretch. Crowder was banged up late in year but seem to play pretty well at times and is easily our best inside backer on team. Akinole is solid but nothing special and Roth played his first year at OLB so he gets a pass on an ok year. Charlie Anderson and Reggie Torbor were quite a downgrade when forced to rest starters. I personally would keep Moses for another offseason to develop. Walden and kersaw are developmental. Need to draft another OLB for many reasons. One Porter is not getting younger and he cannot do all the blitzing. definate area to address. crowder in my opinion is a must resign because none of our other backers are as good against run as him.

Defensive backs-

Will allen is our best corner and Goodman at times stepped up his game although he was beaten badly by top receivers in a few games. jason Allen still cant crack starting lineup after three years. Nate Jones seems only good on blitzes and nothing else. definately need to add a young player to this mix. goodman and Allen are 30 so we have no good youth at this position. if we can get goodman cheap Im fine with resigning him but you definately dont want to give him too much.

Bell played well this year and Hill stepped up his game later in year. Actually thought Culver was pretty decent at times. Hill and bell are both free agents so its likely we will have some new blood back here, hopefully bell is back.

Special Teams- Fields is solid, Carpenter is great at field goals and mediocre at kickoffs so hopefully we can work on that in offseason.

No comment on return game. Ginn should be our return man yet we continue to put average people back thier instead of the best guy. Most perplexing thing this season. look how much impact Desean jackson had on the Philly game and tell me that not using Ginn at what he does best is a good idea.

overall great season and some solid pieces.

My priorities for offseason
1-NT
2-OLB-
3-OL
4-Cb
5-Wr

Dlockz,

I agree with you in your assessment. When the would introduce our Offense the only guy other then Penny who had any experience was Carey at 5 years. Outside of him at the end of the year everyone was 2-3 years of experience. I think we should add a Oline hopefully a top flight center like Mack or Luigs in the draft or the center from Baltimore who is FA. Which I think would upgrade our line and add depth with Satele as a main backup.

I think DE is our only solid spot on the team for Defense. We need LBs to run a 3-4. I think we will make a run in FA and draft 1 if not 2 LBs in the draft plus resign Crowder if he is reasonable. Also believe we need to start adding youth to the back line of the defense. All of those guys are 30 and 3 of the 4 are FAs. Draft and FA will help that out.

Im truly suprised that so many people want to let Crowder walk and keep a guy like jason allen and others who have done so little

Well written dlockz. I agree with almost everything you said. I agree with NT as the #1 priority, but I would put CB as #2. Although, you can make a case for CB being the #1 priority. The secondary played very well this year, but it really is not very good. Baltimore picked on Will Allen repeatidly yesterday and their mediocre WRs made him look bad. Yes, he is our best CB, but he is not a good #1 CB. This is how I would put our priority list.
1. NT/CB
2. CB/NT
3. #1 WR or a big WR
4. LB
5. OL

Corner is a big priority and maybe bigger than NT because you need three corners. Corner we have no long term players there.

Disagree w assessment of Solai. As we know, he has great size and is strong. Showed something again yesterday with the fumble he caused. Tired of letting young, big DT's go and seeing them have success elsewhere, i.e. Vickerson and Evans.

Not saying he is a sure thing, but worth keeping another year to see if this talent can blossom.

Dlockz,i totally and wholeheartedly disagree with keeping Channing Crowder...i honestly don't see in him what you guys do,and i've tried...i've genuinely tried to see what you guys see in him,and i just can't....every Dolphins game i've watched this year, and i've watched 4-5 games...both Bills games, the Houston game, obviously this playoff loss, the 2nd Jets game...and i've watched Crowder completely take himself out of plays,be in PERFECT position to make INT's and not do so,just stand right there and watch the receiver or running back catch the ball before he goes to make the tackle, take himself out of the middle, thereby allowing the opposing RB's run right up the gut for 5,6,7 yards or more...i don't see him attack the LOS when he's in a position to do so...maybe he's just doing what Pasqualoni's telling him to do,i don't know...all i know is that i won't shed 1 tear if he leaves...but,that's just my opinion...feel free to flame me all you Channing Crowder guys if y'all so choose to...but that's my take and i'm standing firm on it...correction on the number of games i've watched...i also watched both games against the Pats...

my take if he is so good how is he averaging 3 tackles a year with an old dt in fron of him. some people make too much out of one play.

I respect your opinion although I disagree. Crowder covers alot of area since we let Porter basically be a pure blitzer, teams run at porter's side alot. I never flame anyone because of an opinion but I seriously think Crowder is our best linebacker and only long term one at that. he is only 25 and will not be as easy to replace as people think. Just because he does not have the sexy stats like interceptions and sacks people think he is not good. he is an inside backer in the 3-4 and his job is too tackle and he is good at his job much better than any other linebacker we have.
