#1 and most important of all for me is Daunte Culpepper. Can he get back to his MVP type season in 2004. Will the knee bother him at all? Can he be our franchise QB??? Regardless of who we pick up I think the only way we become a playoff team is if Cpep plays to his ability. If he doesnt and we stick someone else in, whether it be Lemon, T Green (God no) or even a guy like Quinn or Stanton, we will not be a playoff caliber team.

#2I think the second biggest key is hitting on our oline picks in the draft. If we do like the Jets did last year. Our oline will be one of the best in the AFC. 3 out of 5 starters are back but we need to add some starters via the draft and possibly even a few FA lineman remaining for depth. Alabi is another big key to the success. Him being able to start at LT and be effective will greatly improve our chances and our offense.

#3Ricky being reinstated and playing a full 16 game season. Now 16 games may be too much to ask, but if he does, we will be hard to beat. Ronnie and Ricky combo will be one of the best in the league.

If these three things happen we will definitely be a team to be reckoned with and to be honest I dont think either one of these three is that difficult to do...

Hmm, and who does CPep throw to? Do we have secondary help? So it's at least 5 things, 6 if you think about what Hester has done with PR, KR. Not to mention a TE. I s that 7 things?

our secondary is fine, what do we need help there for? our passing defense was top 5 in the league last year with a basically entirely new secondary in the complex *** system we ran in the backfield, and with all the injuries we had back there... i dont think we need any secondary help... what more do you want them to do? top 5 isn't good enough? sure we can use more INTs, but thats a luxury we can live without... as long as they aren't giving up millions of yards

Ricky Williams is a key?...Wow i totally disagree so am i to take this as to him being the reason we didnt make it last year or the year before that?

I would say our defense holding up with age being somewhat a factor thats the 3rd key.

1 and 3 will be almost impossible to achieve and i don't think you need 1 r 3 to come through to get to post season. I think you need solid not spectacular play at QB and obviosuly you need to have a solid OL and hope your D doesn't show it's age(specifically Taylor and Thomas) and you can compete for a playoff spot.

to defend my position ill say this.....Cpep needs to get back to being Cpep....above avg with some spectacular in him.....i thik ricky needs to be effective on this team too.....ronnie needs to show me that he can withstand 300+ carries before i think otherwise....with ricky ack this team will e dangerous.....as far as secondary, i think we are fine....and im sure we'll add a few more bodies before the season starts.....we have some young guys on defense too and taylor and zach dont scare me that much either.....i think with my 3 keys we're in

I think.....no, I know there's only thing we need to do to be a playoff team: win 11 games. Period.

you aren't going to win games without 3 of these things, with ricky and ronnie splitting carries both players save energy and can tire out defenses like no other

remember this is cam's system now which means run it down their throats

not letting harrington throw a franchise record 62 pass attempts

i couldn't agree with you more, with a nice pass rush it will give our secondary some room for error, with daniels in his third year and bell and hill playing pretty soundly and will allen who was decent last year i think we are fine, maybe trade hill and get ken hamlin at safety but

THESE ARE THE KEYS TO WINNING THIS YEAR

Nose tackle will be more of a key than Ricky sharing carries with Ronnie.
There is a very good chance Ricky isn't even a Dolphin next year.

Nothing should be expected from CPep, absolutely nothing.

More of a key will be the play of the young lineman on defense. Manny,Rod,Fred, and Matt. If these guys would somehow step up and play above expectations the defense would be so good it would be scary.

Only looking at yards allowed and claiming we had the 5th ranked pass defense can be very misleading. We had the second fewest interceptions (8) in the NFL last year. Furthermore, we had the second worst TD pass-to-interceptions ratio in the NFL last year at 22 TD 8 interceptions. Compare that to our offense that had 16 TD 19 interceptions and it gives a good indication as to why we had a losing record despite our offense having 3287 passing yards, as opposed to our defense only giving up 3007 passing yards. Turnovers are a "HUGE" part of the game and (-11) is too much to overcome. Play makers in the secondary are definitely needed. Especially when considering Taylor and Thomas had 3 of our teams 8 interceptions.

Having a tough time understanding your logic that returning 3 starters and 2 rookies would propel us to having one of the best OL in the AFC. There is no Ferguson / Mangold combo in this years draft as far as I can see at the #9 and #40 pick. Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

No matter who plays QB, they just need to manage the game better than what was done last year.

The WRs needs to have more explosive plays which would keep defenses honest.

The O-Line needs to be solidified and play with a consistency.

Ricky Williams cannot be counted on right now because he has yet to be reinstated. With the players talking about a new 3-strike rule, they just might make an example of Ricky just to prove that point. I do think he'll be reinstated but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't.

i think Carey Hadnot and Shelton make a nice piece of the puzzle.....Although im not going to lie and say im not worried, there is no reason why we cant be one of the best in the AFC....Houck and Cam have worked together and that oline in San Diego which I believe was ranked dead last in '04 or '03 was one of the est. If Alabi can come in and play well and we get some solid depth along with a guy like Kalil or Brown, there is no reason why we cant become one of the best....wishful thinking call it what you want....but having ricky and ronnie back there along with Scledge opening up holes we can have a very very good oline......i dont think we are as far as ppl think.......

and for the record Cpep will be back and will be productive......how can we all hate on him and give up.....give him another shot

Fine? Well, I guess I watched a different fins team last year than you did. The one I saw always gave up 3rd downs, always gave up 3rd and 40 and a lob pass or hail mary, and there was always at least 5 plays a game where someone forgot their assignment. So yea, we need help in ourt secondary. We need more INTs, we need MORE knock downs, we need tighter coverage so the QB progresses to his next read while JT gets one step closer to him. Top 5 passing was due to the front line, not the secondary.
