At this point, I cant see Miami taking anyone else apart from Chris Long. With one of its 2 second round picks, the Dolphins will bring in a rookie tackle as its one of the deepest positions in this years draft. I see the Dolphins going for :

1. Chris Long, DE, Virginia

32. Best available T - Gosder Cherilous Boston College or Chris Williams Vanderbilt should still be on the board at this point.

57. Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona

64. Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue

The logic being the Parcells brain trust will build solid lines first before filling out the skill areas. Long's non stop motor will earn him the number one pick as Miami look to build a solid defensive front 7. The second round pick of an offensive lineman makes sense as, currently, our offensive line is only half built. Satele, Smiley and Carey will man the right hand side, so drafting a tackle here makes sense. Carey could always stay at LT with the rookie slotting in at RT.

Miami lack a playmaking CB and Cason would address that issue. He has good size and athleticism. With the third round pick, Miami could go a few ways but Ive gone for a TE here as it would be beneficial to the offense to have an outlet reciever and a big target. Keller has been a very productive college TE and is a very athletic player who should grow and become an integral part of this offense.

Sounds good, but I don't see Cason lastin until our 3rd rounder. BUT if we are able to acquire an additional 2nd, we might get lucky enough to grab him. I like Cason's height. He's a bit on the thin side, but can probably bulk up to 195. His height would be a nice asset.

Keller is very good receiving TE but he is not a big target at 6'2" 242. A TE such as Martellus Bennett (6'6" 260), Kellen Davis (6"7" 262) or Brad Cottam (6"8" 270) may be a better outlet choice or over the middle.

Keller looked good at the combines, but I agree he is a little small for a TE......I think Notre Dame's Carlson could be the TE we go after.

we spent this entire off-season so far signing defensive guys, and one offensive guy. considering we DONT sign an OL or TE, we could probably spend this entire draft fixing our offense. last draft we drafted Beck/Ginn/Booker/Mauia/Satele ....5 guys who started, and Mormino who COULD start.

i say this year we fix our offense completely and draft a Franchise offense. if not, we could draft defense too. but in the first 3 rounds, we could draft our RT, another TE, WR, OG.

I too see us going O early, with the secondary and possibly ILB being the lone exceptions.

But I dont see Keller a) being there that late or b) being a "Parcells" TE. Cant block. Carlson seems more likely.

Carlson is my preference, too.

I'd go 1st - C.Long DE
2nd - G.Cherilus OT
2nd - C.Lofton ILB
3rd - R.Schuening OG
4th - S.Crable OLB

You lost all credibility with Chris Long at #1. Only Matt Ryan and Jake Long make sense at #1 for MIA.

I think Cherilous will be there at 32, but Chris Williams will be long gone already. Cason and Keller will be gone by then but if they are there then it would be a solid draft.

It's a logical draft position wise. IMO the first two picks are spot on. People are in denial if they don't think that Chris Long is the hands down favorite to be our pick. And with the depth at tackle your second pick makes sense as well. Parcells doesn't have a history of draft CBs early though. And even though I like Keller I'm not sure he's Parcell's proto-typical TE.

I think Jason Taylor will be moved for a 2nd and a 4th. He makes great sense for Jacksonville. It is possible we move out of number one too, but I won't take that for granted yet. So, here is my projection:

1. OT Jake Long, Parcells prototype fills a major need.

2a. CB Antoine Cason, flat out a player who performs and has high IQ. Fills a major need.

2b. DT Pat Sims, Parcells will build the trenches first and foremost.

2c. QB Chad Henne, I liked him as a younger player, but would have liked to have seen him develop more. He's a hedge for Beck and McCown.

3. TE John Carlson: fits what Parcells wants

4th round, look for linebacker and receiver, maybe an Earl Bennett and a Jonathan Goff out of Vandy.

This draft would infuse the Dolphins with the types of kids Parcells will want, and will improve the IQ, physicality, and discipline of the Dolphins, three major weaknesses.

Hey, you cannot build Rome in a day. The following year, you come back with a Jack linebacker, a receiver, a 3-4 end, and a big time guard and this team will be building itself out of this thing.

drafting Chris Long is not as good as drafting Jake Long.Jake can step right in and contribute on day 1.However,Chris's position,DE and OLB are all filled.Parcells himself said he is keep JT,and were playing 3-4,so Taylor will play OLB,and JP on the other side.We got Ferguson in the NT position,Vonnie Holliday Matt Roth on the ends.So you see,at LT we don't have a true starter,in which,Jake Long will fill for the next 10-15 years.Besides,Parcells is known for finding LBing gems in the late-part of the draft.Chris Long will be nice to have, but not anywhere the need of Jake Long to the Miami Dolphins.
