Why are we paying Olindo Mare so much money and then as usual he cant make a field goal when he needs too.....I think Olindo gets paid in the top 3 of all Field Goal kickers but he always shanks it. Time to bring in a younger, better and cheaper kicker.

I agree

Yes, he's very inconsistent and injury prone. I dont see any evidence that says keep him, but are there any decent kickers out there?

Yea, lets cut the guy for missing a 54 yarder in the preseason :shakeno:

His 54 yarder must have gone about 34??? At least hit it so it has a chance.....I knew we should have taken Nugent of Ohio State. :(

It was 54 yards!

Not to mention Mare is the best kickoff kicker in the NFL. Field position is just as important. To be honest our games shouldn't come down to 3 points.

He slipped on the kick. And so what. It's still the first preseason game for him, too. He could have hit it 53 yards perfectly straight and it would have had the same result.

Obviously if he wasn't trying to kick it 54 yards, he wouldnt have shanked it. If you wanna criticize him for the kicks hes missed the past couple years, so be it. But to call for his head after missing a 54 yarder on August 8th, thats ridiculous.

Are you kidding? He misses a 54 yard FG attempt and you want him gone? Are you just looking for something to be negative about?

It's the principle here. We have heard all these great things about Mare during training camp. This is Mare's year to get back on track, to be the Mare of old. He was flawless in training camp and many, myself included, expect that to carry over into the preseaon and regular season.

If he did slip, we should cut him a break. Can't expect to make a 54 yarder if he slipped. And the fact the ball only would 35 yards should be evidence of that.

NOooo I thought we should have kept him around a few more years after his two shanks against New England off the dirt a couple years ago. Geeez, why you keep supporting this guy when he just cant get it done???

He approached that 54 yarder like he was kicking a PAT. It was soooo lame it's not even funny! and it went about as far as a PAT

How can you say that he can't get it done? And who is available who is also better? By the way, last year he did not miss a PAT. His overall FG avg was 75%. Also he was 2-3 from 50+ yds. In addition his KO avg was 64.6 yds. So again, who could we get to take his place that is better?
