OK, I'll just get right to it.........
NO's Passing Game Vs. Miami's Pass Defense:
Aaron Brooks has had his problems this year.......4 TD's and 8 INT's, but his problems are nothing in comparison to Miami's pass defense. Sam Madison has been decent but ALL of the other CB's have been flat out Horrible. Brooks will make a bunch of very bad plays, will try to do too much, and will turn the ball over, BUT, He also has all the skills to play in this league, and he "Can" pick a defense apart. Joe Horn might not play in this game, but their WR's are still very fast, and that could equal trouble for Miami's Secondary. If Miami doesn't get On Aaron Brooks, and their CB's continue to play like they have been it's going to be a VERY long day for the Phins. Brooks Will make some mistakes, but Miami has to force him to make them. EDGE: NO's(until Miami proves they can stop even just a decent QB/WR combo they don't deserve to be given the edge in this category)
NO's Run Game, Vs. Miami's Run Defense:
As we all know Deuce McAllister will not be playing, and that sounds like a very good thing for the Phins, but Antowain Smith, and Aaron Stecker have been pretty solid, and both of them are actually averaging more YPC than Deuce was before his Injury. Miami's Run D was Outstanding the first three games, and they have the players to pick that form back up, but they need to finish tackles. They make a lot of plays where they will get to the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage, but will not make the tackle. Channing Crowder has done a pretty nice job for a Rookie, but he's been caught out of position an aweful lot as well. If Jr. Seau can play this week it will be a Huge lift for this defense, and we should see a pretty big improvement in this area. EDGE: Miami(they got pushed around a little bit by KC but That was KC, Miami's Run Defense will step it up again, and as mentioned before will get a big boost from Seau assuming he plays this week)
Miami's Pass Offense Vs. NO's Pass Defense:
New Orleans is ranked 5th in the league in pass defense, but that is mostly because their Run Defense has been so poor, and teams haven't needed to pass much against them(they have the second fewest pass attempts against them in the league). There will be opportunity's to throw the ball in this game, but the Huge question will be whether or not Miami can take advantage of them. Frerotte has been terrible at completing the big wide opens plays, if he just completes a couple of these per game Miami would be in good Shape. EDGE: Miami(Miami's WR's are better than NO's DB's and like I said there will be plenty of Opportunities here for them, Miami's QB HAS to hit on a couple of these eventually)
Miami's Run Offense Vs. NO's Run Defense:
NO's run defense has been pretty bad(ranked 26th in the league, and allowing 4.4 YPC). They don't really have any standout guys along their front 7, and teams so far have pretty much ran though them. Miami's O-line is shaky, and their ground game has been somewhat shaky as well, although a major part of that is because they just haven't ran the ball much. Ronnie Brown has looked spectacular the last few weeks, and needs to get the ball a lot more. Ricky Williams looks like he could break one at any time, but hasn't done much yet, and at this point in his comeback should just be a guy to give a breather for Ronnie Brown. EDGE: Miami(Only thing that would prevent Brown/Williams from having a big day is if the Coaching staff continues to keep the ball out of their hands, Especially Brown's. If Brown gets 20 or more carries this week, and RW gets a few more Miami's Rush Rankings will go up a few spots!!!)
OVERALL: Miami(Overall, Miami is just a more talented team, and this game really just comes down to a few things for the Phins.......Keep Brooks From Making Big Plays, Make Good On your Opportunities, and RUN THE BALL. Two of these shouldn't even be an issue because running the ball more is COMPLETELY in Miami's control so there's no excuse not to do it, and as I mentioned before they HAVE to be able to hit on a couple of plays eventually in the pass game. So just run The Ball, control the clock, and make the plays that you SHOULD make and it's win #3 for Miami)
