why can't we stop opposing offenses? Capers is supposed to make us blitz heavy and get us a ton of sacks. I've seen the blitzing but I haven't seen results. we always get blocked or slowed and never get to the QB fast enough. it's like our defense is blitzing and the opposing offense correctly predicts where it will come from therefore block the blitzer. we are being too predictable and with the kind of time we allow opposing QBs they are able to expose our inexperienced DBs. I'm not sure if I'm correct but I've only seen blitzes from the inside, I'd like to see more blitzes from the outside. and maybe we just don't have the personal to blitz with, this is why I wanted Manny Lawson in the draft. he can blitz well from the OLB spot, he already has 2 sacks which is more than all of our LBs combined so far

Reading posts like this makes me believe Miami let up 60 points in the last two games.

agreed and blitzing back fired against Pittsburgh because they have a good line and Batch may not be great but he is a veteran.

nick gutted the secondary. got rid of to much and top it
off with daniels being hurt, no one out there really knows
the system well except reynaldo hill and he had limited time
in the system.

the db's and there play is CRUCIAL to this defense scheme
and they have to be good and know the system.

saban thought he could bring in nobodys and bend them
to his will. didn't work! starting to think he is believing
his own hype!!

but, thats it in a nut shell. he got rid of to many and didnt
replace them with anything good.

last year we had good coverage and daniels was a teacher
on the field. now, no one can cover and the d-line cant
get there quick enough.

we allowed two 100 yard rushers in two games, we let Charlie Batch look like a pro bowler, we only created 1 turnover which in reality we didn't create it it was a gift. our defense is not playing like it should

I think age has finally caught up with the core guys' in our front seven. Is it me or does it seem that they are two steps late to make big plays.

I still can't believe we drafted Jason Allen with a busted hip instead of Manny Lawson .

Well considering Allen had one of the best workouts/showings by any single player(let alone the best by a DB) in the past decade, plus the numbers he put up at Tennessee, I don't blame Saban for picking him. Even if I had preferred someone else, it was still a good pick at #16.

Allen's hip is healed, and more importantly, we have a clause about the hip in his contract.

You're still not living up to your name.

The defense deserves a good share of the blame for the Pittsburgh loss. However, the Buffalo loss goes almost squarely on the offense. The defense gave up under 200 yards, and only 16 points (3 of which were set up by Buffalo blocking a Miami punt.....the defense played WELL there to hold Buffalo to 3). Considering all the weapons Miami has on offense, the defense played well enough for the Dolphins to win.

McGahee had 91 yards.

Anyway, I think the entirely new secondary needs time to gel. I am a little worried about the geriatric front 7 thought. I hope some of the young guys step up soon.

I was wondering something similar. It seems like we are never able to take advantage of injuries and inferior players on other teams. Other teams 2nd string QBs have come in to play well against us. Yet when our 2nd stringer goes in, we become totally screwed. Why can't we take advantage of other teams, the same way we have been taken advantage of in the past? And I'm not only talking about the last 2 games.

That's who I was kind of hoping Saban would draft as well. I was not disappointed with us drafting Jason Allen because I know Nick Saban is a better talent evaluator than I am so I wasn't upset with the pick at all. The holdout pi$sed me off but I was glad to get him signed. I really think that picking a safety at #16 overall he should start immediately unless you are the defending AFC champ and he was the last piece of the puzzle, but this is certainly not the case. I hope not drafting Manny Lawson does not come back to haunt us in the end, but I would like to see better progress from our #1 pick as far along as we are in the season.
