My Boy Onyewu Turns Down Middlesbrough

lol

yea he probably should have accepted but he is holding out for a bigger team and better offer. Don't know if he will get that but he has alot of skill, size and talent, somebody might roll the dice on him.

Well, a bunch of our guys are retiring now. Reyna, Pope, Mcbride.. all retired. So, bigger news than where Gooch goes is where all the replacements are going to come from (though I also agree he should have accepted - roll the dice now and prove what you're worth).

Here's one piece of news:
http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=404557&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=3&title=Rossi+wants+United+stay

Rossi, the American-born Italian (19 yrs old) who plays for Man U explains his decision to snub the US:

"They asked me to play and I knew there was an opportunity to get to the World Cup.

"But I also knew if I took that chance, I would never be able to play for Italy, which has been my dream virtually since the day I was born.

"I had to tell the USA the truth. I know it will be far harder trying to get in the Italian national team than the United States but I have absolutely no regrets about the option I have taken."

Now, this is one case where you hope the guy isn't as good as made out to be, cuz he'd definitely lock up one of our forward spots.

By the way, one reassuring piece of news is from Adu, who has put cold water on the idea of playing for Ghana (he is still eligible it seems even after that Canada match):

Oh, and he's finally getting better.. the goals aren't there, but his field vision is much better if any one of you who watches MLS occasionally has noticed.

Rossi is going to be a stud one day IMO. Not yet though. I dunno about him making the Italian team though any time soon.

Rossi = :nono:

And yes Adu has been doing good things in MLS. Reporters are raving.

Onyewu, like Landon Donavan, did not show up for the World Cup. :shakeno:

Hope he gets something better, but beggers can't be choosers, you move to a club like that, you play well, you move to a bigger club, that is how it works. And that is what he should have done.

U are kidding right?

Onyewu was one of the bright spots for the U.S., giving us the much needed physical presence on D. Against Italy he looked like a superstar as he completly shut down the Serie A goal scoring machine Luca Toni. Gooch is a guy who will be a force on D for the next world cup or 2. He is still kind of raw, but he definetly showed his potential. His size worked against him in that phantom PK against Ghana, but he can be an intimidating presence for strikers.

And with Landon, u know he didn't play as bad as people think . . coach doesn't know how to use him . . he is not 19 anymore, he is not a striker, let him create, keep him in the midfield (he was positioned that in the WC, but obviously he was more of a striker wannabe). He definetly needs to go back to Europe, cuz the talent is there. With him and Adu in the midfield next WC hopefully, man that will be something to see

Its Donovan...and Onyewu actually showed up. He was ONE of the few people who were praised by the media and Coach Arena.

 Donovan needs to go overseas..Beasley will pass him in talent If Landon doesn't go there soon.

Another bright spot for our team was Jimmy Conrad. He impressed.
