My Draft

[SF Dolphin Fan]

1. Adam Carriker DE/DT- I have a feeling Okoye will be gone and Miami will look at players like Carriker or maybe Willis. I know most want offense, but remember the draft is 7 rounds long and that will come. Carriker is Roth with more size, speed and versatility. He is probably the best run stopper in the draft and will be a persistent, never give up, pass rusher.

2A. Justin Blalock OG - May not slip this low, although most mocks have him as an early second rounder. He is the type of run blocker that you need for a power running team.

2B. Lamar Woodley OLB/DE- If he's there at 60 Miami should jump. I watch him play and I see Adalis Thomas. Woodley is big enough to play end when Carriker moves inside and could eventually take over for Jason Taylor or Joey Porter as the team's future rush linebacker.

3. Tony Hunt RB -- Miami needs depth with Morris and Minor departing. Ricky Williams is a one year answer at best, but I'd rather see the team trade him. Hunt is a power runner who also can catch the ball pretty well.

4. Allen Barbre OT -- A very interesting small school prospect with great speed who could challenge Alabi at LT.

6A. Matt Gutierrez QB -- Another interesting prospect who was highly recruited out of De La Salle HS, but was stuck behind Henne at Michigan. Maybe a Brad Johnson type which isn't bad in the 6th round.

6B. Walter Thomas DT (assuming Wilkinson trade goes through) - Could perhaps develop into a Keith Traylor type. Hard to move at 6-4, 350+.

7. Steve Breaston Wr -- Seems to be listed as a late rounder on most mocks, but definitely has potential.

I like Carriker very much. He is a perfect 3-4 end. If Peterson drops to us I wouldnt mind trading back with Buffalo and picking Carriker up there.

Walter Thomas could be the sleeper pick of this draft. He was dominant during the Texas vs the Nation practices and could definitely take over for Traylor once he retires.

No QB on day one doesn't do it for me and going defence with 2 of our top 3 picks would be crazy so I don't see it going that way....also no WR till the last round is not a god thing either.

So look for either Ginn Jr, Levi Brown, Justin Blalock, Ben Grubbs, Ryan Kalil, Aaron Sears,...all to be some names that will be looked at over your Carriker and Woodley predictions. ???

Ginn would be a huge reach at #9 in my opinion and I think the best player at that spot will be on defense. But, I wouldn't be surprised either if all the first day picks went to the offense.

The successful teams are always looking 2-3 years down the road. If you project Miami's defense over the next three years their best players will likely be retired, or near the end. Zach Thomas would be 37, Jason Taylor 35, Vonnie Holiday 34 and Joey Porter 33. Is there a young superstar to step up on defense? I don't see one on the current roster. I do think Matt Roth will become a player and Channing Crowder is solid, but that's it. Based on their work ethic, I'd say neither Rod Wright or Manny Wright are on the roster or maybe even the NFL three years down the road. Who knows with Kevin Vickerson. Remember he was cut and nobody picked him up. The Dolphins need offensive help in a big way. There's no doubt about that, but I also hope they don't forget about a defense that needs a lot of help as well.

I have to admit that Ginn scares me because he just isn't polished enough to merit such a high pick. Although there's no denying he has an explosiveness that the Miami lacks. I wouldn't be disappointed if the Dolphins took Levi Brown in the first, maybe Steve Smith at 2A and Drew Stanton at 2B. I would love to get either Carriker or Woodley, though. Love both those players.

Only reason most draft boards don't have ginn high is he hasn't ran his 40 yet, he had planned a private workout on the 11th of april and according to a teamate ran around a 4.37 in a practice run

Ginn doesnt need to be polished, hes just that fast and fluid. Guy is a playmaker pure and simple, and should the ankle be good to go he is every bit worth the #9.
We wont ignore defense in this draft, but neither is it going to be our priority. We have 2-3 years to keep working and upgrading that. The offense blows NOW.

I agree with Barbre!!! He's potentially one of the best LT's in this years draft. We need 2 tackles IMO.

Definitely. We need some depth. Right now Alibi is unproven. Plus we need a backup for RT. So, drafting two tackles would give us depth at RT and LT.
