Of course I will be ripped for this but hear me out.

1st imagine the defense like this(3/4):

defensive line: roth/carter/traylor/wright/vickerson/high draft pick
Linebackers: crowder/thomas/john abraham/high draft pick
secondary: daniels/high draft pick/bell/draft pic/shultzer/pool

Now of course this requires trading jason taylor for two first day picks. I know before you go nuts I just don't beleive taylor fits the scheme. I have watched every single play for years and this year I simply can't recall him making a single play that he didn't lineup as the defensive end. In other words I don't remember him making a single play out in space. He is too small to play end in a 3-4 and if the field if bad or the weather is bad, jason taylor speed is negated and he does nothing. Another thing this trade does is it makes me feel alot more comfortable picking a QB on the first day with the extra picks.

The offense is a little trickier. I beleive we will add a wr maybe even two from FA, and our o-line will see a major overhaul. It will be interesting to see if joe berger and/or Alabi will crack the lineup next year.

You dont need to spend high draft picks on secondary guys. Especially with the current rules there are no more shut down corners in the league. Madison was a 2nd i think and surtain was a third. Saban will have an advantage for the next 2 years when it comes to drafting because he has recruited a lot of the talent out there. ALSO even our current lineup of secondary guys i think will do better next year. Especially as they get to know the system better.

I would really rather see us do a run at Julian Peterson for that OLB spot. We have the cap room to do it. Madison has been much better the last few games. Especially with his tackling. When a teams TE is catching stuff like crazy its cause the corners are stopping the WR's...

JT looks pretty good to me in this new scheme.

I disagree... I think JT is doing well and want to keep him... But hey you can have your Opinion...

JT has had his ups and downs. In the game against the jets yes he had 3 sacks, but I could show you a half dozen plays were he was taken advantage of. Plays where he didn't control containment or where he assumed it was a passing play and he ran upfield while the runningback ran inside him with ease. I guess its just a matter of opinion. He had 3 sacks against a beat up offensive line on a terrible team the jets, in fact he did the same thing against Raiders, another terrible team with offensive line problems. Just out of curiosity I would like someone to dig up stats on games with good offensive lines or "big" games. I have no idea what the results would be but how did he do against lets say: New England(big game), the Chiefs(good offensive line), and the chargers(good offensive line). It just seems like Jason pads his stats quite a bit against bad teams in meaningless games.

Our opponents scheme against JT. Without him in there freeing up others, I think we have no pass rush. I know we are currently second in sacks, but would we be without him? Hopefully, he can rehab properly in the offseason (a torn plantar ligament has hampered him this season). And, hopefully we can find a future replacement soon. I still think he has a few good years left and I hope he retires a Dolphin.

I actually agree that this scheme doesn't utilize JT's talents to the utmost. You're right, he makes plays when he lines up at end (3 sacks vs Jets), but nobody is scared of him in coverage and he's not causing opposing teams as much confusion as was assumed.

That being said, I still don't want to trade him. He still plays at a ridiculously high level, I think Nick will adjust and use him where he can be most successful, and he and Zach have suffered through so much, I hate to not have them be part of the success that seems to be coming. They've earned it and I think Nick will respect that. I know that's more an emotional argument than rational, but it just doesn't seem right to get rid of these guys just as we're turning the corner, as long as they can still play at a high level and contribute, which they can.

Well, you did say it was a dream. We're not gonna get 2 1st day pikcs for JT and tho he's not the ideal 3-4 DE, Saban's not doing a real 3-4 defence....it goes from 3-4 to 4-3 from play to play.2nd, we're not gonna get 2 WR's in free agency...maybe one if that. And the o-line needs a major overhaul? and then you want Alibi and Berger to start next year? Who on the o-line you want gone? :shakeno:

Yeah I don't see us giving up Jason Taylor for anything. He has really started to play very well as of late and will continue to do so I believe. He is one of the best in the game and there is no reason we should give him up.
