So the wife, little one, and I went to Miami over the weekend. I didn't go last year so I had the itch to get down there and enjoy some beach/football. I didn't go into the game with any expectations so I wasn't completely turned off by the terrible loss. The fans around me were very vocal about not liking Philbin. They also muttered numerous opinions about the defense quitting on the coaching staff. Others said the team is a JV team, they stink, and what the **** is this? A real treat to witness in person.

As far as the stadium goes, the aqua seats are certainly much better than the orange before them. Where I sat was right near where a column to support the canopy will be located in 2016. The end zones looked good despite the Dolphins hardly getting into them. I estimate there were about 15-20% Buffalo fans there, the majority of them behind the Bills bench.

A lot of people left at halftime. It was an unbelievably bad home opener and is certainly the worst one I've been to in Miami.

(I've tried uploading images to this post but they aren't working. I don't want to use a picture hosting site to put them in here.)

I was listening to Jason Taylor on Sirius XM this morning and he was talking about the game. He mentioned how shocked he was at he lack of emotion from our guys and that the most enthusiasm he saw all day was from Jonas Gray....who ironically was just promoted to the 53 man roster. He fully expected them to play better this week.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the stadium and experience....sorry the result wasn't better.

Sounds like the fans you sat with have a lot of the same opinions we see on this site.

Thanks for sharing!

Feel bad for you honestly. Especially if it was a long trip. No one deserves to pay and go out of their way to see a game that was essentially lost in 5 minutes. Sounds like you made the most of it however which is good. I have been to 3 games all 3 losses. One in Buffalo when I lived up there and 2 home games. Loss to Jets (Thanks again Phantom for the hookup) and a loss to the Panthers. **** this team, I swear.

So basically you were surrounded by FinHeaven posters

I've been to about 16 games now. I've seen losses before (vs. Houston when they kicked the GW FG and were huge underdogs, 16-6 vs. Buffalo, 17-7 vs. Tennessee on a Saturday b/c an impending storm was going to hit South FL, 31-23 to the Jets on SNF a few years ago, 37-23 to Dallas, and to the Packers in 2006).

This was the absolute worst. The good news is I didn't come to Miami solely for the game. It's nice to have cuban food and the beach available all day when you're there. If the team loses there's always nice broads to look at too so it's a win-win.

If our team played in Indy or Buffalo I'd want to drink Drano.

I came down from Jersey for the first time in a long time. The stadium looked great. And that's where it ended.

I have never been to a sporting event where no one stayed in their seat. The entire game was spent standing up and sitting down as people left their seats for whatever reason. I think this is the reason the stadium looked half full to some people. In reality, it was full, but at any random point, it felt like 30% of the fans weren't in their seats. I was in Section 121 (on the Bills side), and it was filled with Bills fans, chanting, being loudmouths, etc. It was infuriating.

Of course, the game was a debacle. The fans around me were screaming for McCain to be benched. We all started predicting where the ball was going on every Bills 3rd down, since all we had to do was look for McCain. The disgust with Philbin was obvious. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the stadium was empty. Understandable, but still shocking to see. Bills fans came pouring into the area from other parts of the stadium as the Miami fans left.

I stayed until there was less than 2 minutes remaining. Getting out of the parking lot was almost as bad as the game itself.

The next day in Ft. Lauderdale, I was still wearing my Dolphins hat and was repeatedly stopped by other fans commenting on their hatred for Philbin.

I thought for sure I would be planning a trip for 2016 to see the completed stadium renovations. Now...I doubt it.

I'll admit that I wore my Spurs hat the rest of the trip. The Dolphins embarrass me even in Miami. I hate feeling this way.

And this is what having a loser coach does. Now you won't be coming from out of town next year. Airlines hotels restaurants and the stadium will all lose out on your dollar. But because "Ross is a billionaire" none of this matters to some. I'm glad he had to pay for the stadium himself. He makes the worst hires imaginable. He should find a monkey trained in giving interviews and making hires. We would have a much better chance of getting a winning coach. Hell the monkey could be the interim head coach and we would win 2 more games with a monkey over Philbin.

I on the other hand will be back next year. I certainly have to see the complete stadium. I always go to the opener b/c it's early in the year and the season is new so there's hope. I wouldn't go if they were 2-10.

Sounds pretty miserable. Sorry you had to go through that, but nothing like some cuban food and mostly naked south beach ladies to take the sting away. I think the mood of every Dolphins fan I know is pretty murderous towards Philbin. It's ugly among the fanbase. I think everyone feels like they were suckered into believing bull**** this year.

I flew down from NJ for this cluster****. My long in-person losing streak, which dates back to 2004, is sadly still intact (the last time I saw this team win a game in person was that SNF game against Washington in 2003 where we wore the orange jerseys and Jay Fielder had to come off the bench to lead us from behind- I think we won that game by one whole point). Thankfully, I have family in the area that I got to visit, and I was wasted pretty much the entire afternoon.

I've seen wins too. My favorite was the 34-10 win vs. Denver. Denver was heavy favorites that day and the game ended with Jason Taylor returning a fumble 90-some yards for a TD with no time left. An epic win. My first ever home game was vs Carolina. Dolphins won 23-6. Chris Weinke was their starter and his first pass was picked by Surtain. I've seen them beat San Diego 30-3, Buffalo 34-7, the Raiders when Reggie Bush ran wild, the Falcons in 2013.

In fact the last two times I had been down they beat Oakland and Atlanta. Before that I had seen several losses in a row (seen them lose to Houston twice). And before that they had gone like 6-0 in games I went to.

The last Miami win I witnessed in person was the 52-14 opening win over the Jets in 1995. That is not a joke. I've had some terrible luck. Multiple losses to Buffalo, New England, and the Jets. The 1993 home loss to the Giants, where I got stuck watching Steve DeBerg after both Marino and Scott Mitchell were injured. The Giants loss was the beginning of the end that season - the start of the 5-game losing streak to end the season after the 9-2 start.

I am better off watching from my couch.
