So today I worked the Jets game at Giants Stadium, and even though it's a lot of fun to do so I missed the Dolphins game (maybe I was better off this way).

Now I know from going to the Nov. 1st game against the Phins that Jets fans are just plain a$$holes but today, they managed to bring it to a whole new level. They started off by bringing whistles in to the game and blowing them while Atlanta was on offense to screw them up right after the snap. Some of you may think that's not a big deal but just imagine how that would f-up your game when you are taught to stop playing after the whistle. They were doing this for a good 2 quarters from what I could remember (could have been more or less but I was trying to do my job). Atlanta's bench was pissed off, and rightfully so.

Next the fans after having the floor taken out from under them when Gonzalez caught that TD for the W, they decide to start taking ice (from the blizzard the night before) and throwing it onto the field and harassing people on the field. They were hitting players, employees, and I saw one kid get a nice chunk of ice right in the side of the dome. They were being such douchebags because their team was about to lose. I was just praying not to get hit because I probably would have flipped out and that would not have been good for me.

And none of that will prob make headlines or the news. If my team were to lose I wouldn't even think about chucking stuff onto the field. The one part that did cool me down was one dumb@ss Jet fan who was right above where the players get off the field. He was (along with many others) yelling at the individual Jets players saying they are horrible and son on, when he says "Revis you suck, Sanchez! go back to USC!, and and and you #17, yeah you suck too." What fan doesn't know who their #1 wideout is?

The ref told the fans to stop blowing the whistles... haha.

Plenty of fans for every fanbase dont know the the names of players they should know on their team. I've heard Dolphin fans not know names of their players to so dont act like Jet fans are the only fanbase that have people like that.

I have season tickets so I am always there. The only bad things I saw were fans throwing snowballs at security and **** and im sure at the players as well (actually Matt Ryan almost go hit on the TD pass he threw to Gonzalez). But lots of teams fans do that. Try going to Patriot game. They throw snowballs at the players to.

You act like its just "Jets fans" but really its a New Yorker thing, and since you are from New York you are basically calling yourself out. People from New York are rude and loud, nothing new here. And if you watched the Eagles game yesterday they were throwing snow too, every single team if it snows has a-holes who throw snow down at the players. Its not just a Jets fan thing, its drunken morons that can be found at any game. But there are more in a NY or Philly game because of the rude people that are from there.

:chuckle:
So, "Rude New Yorker thing" is now an acceptable excuse???

I can see it now ... the "Rude New Yorker" defense.

As in, "Ayyy, your honor - Bite me, you knows ... he was askin for it. I'm just doin what New Yorkers are supposed to do!"

While it's true that every fanbase had idiot fans, when it starts to escalate into violence is when it's gone too far.

The ref told the fans to stop blowing the whistles... haha.

And that didn't do anything. Security was still trying to get people to stop. I'm not saying it was like a terrible tragedy, it's just pretty f*cking low of people to resort to that ****.

Since I'm from new york I'm calling myself out? was I the a$$hole doing that **** at any sporting event I've been at before, no. I'm not saying all Jets fans that were acting like idiots were New Yorkers. Prob a good majority are from New Jersey the armpit of America. It's one thing to yell and say **** during a game (most ppl do bc it's part of the game) but do take it to the level of blowing whistles and throwing **** at people is just LOW. And it wasn't even like it was fans throwing **** at players (your own or ATL) but it was everyone that was down there including kids. One of our camera guys got cut open from ice being chucked at him. I could care less if Philly was doing this as well. Everyone knows what happens in Philly. But then again should I have really expected any Jets fans to do otherwise? Silly me.

Snow is fine (except at players trying to play the game - Ryan on the TD like you said) but ice being thrown at anyone in the NFL or not on the field is just plain stupid. Go beat up an Atlanta fan on the walk back to your car if your that pissed off.

I understand that throwing ice is bad but it happens all the time in places where it snows. Like somebody else pointed out in this thread Eagle fans were throwing them to and i've seen Pat fans throw them all the time.

For the record though my season tickets are in the 10th row of the upper deck and I saw people throwing snow/ice at a lot of points in the game. But its not just a problem in our stadium.

The only time the Refs or just whoever the powers may be in the stadium complained was after the Jets scored a TD and all the fans were doing was throwing snow up in the air to celebrate.

I hear you guys with the fact that it happens where it snows. I agree. But the State Police and the Security officers on the sideline right next to where I was were scrambling to get people to stop for most of the second half. The first half there wasn't much commotion.

Just because in the upper deck you don't see or hear certain things going on doesn't mean it's not happening. The officials came over several times to try and control the situation. So just because they don't make an announcement to the fans about stopping doesn't mean it's not happening.

I understand. I dont condone it at all either. I saw it happen first hand in the upper deck where people were getting into fights and fans would start throwing snowballs at them and then security and even a couple cops would come up and they would throw them at them to. So I definitley believe you.

Im just saying that a jack*** is a jack*** and all teams fanbases have them. I agree that Jet fans can definitley be more rowdier (and not in a good way) then some fanbases but there not the only people who do it.

Like I said I agree. I probably wouldn't if I took an ice chunk to the dome though lol. Some of them coming from the upper deck down to the field were doing some damage. Next time I'm working I will know to wear a helmet!

I've lived pretty much all over the United States and I have noticed that people from the North East (NYC or Boston especially) are by far the rudest people on Earth. Also, the rudest and most obnoxious people I have met in Miami or in Arizona are transplants from New York...go figure.
