My fellow fin fans,
It has been a long day full of roller coaster rides. The dolphin fan base is divided. Many are calling for cam's heads. But i have several points that I want to point out that have made me warm up to our draft no matter what the critics say.

1.Brady Quinn: Listen. Our evaluating staff and a lot of others had quinn ranked very low. Overhyped innacurate not the type of player the fanbases thought he is. We had Beck ranked higher than quinn!! So why would we take quinn in round 1 when we knew we could get beck for less money, a later draft pick, while adding a premier talent speedster on offense? Exactly. The reasoning is there. Kiper had a man crush for Quinn and many just jumped on the bandwagon. Remember when Kiper had mike williams ranked as the #1 player in his draft?
Now, if Brady Quinn isn't as good as everyone thought he was what would have happened if we drafted him at #9? Well, look at eli manning, david carr, or joey harrington...They turned into average to below average quarterbacks setting their respective teams back for several years. If quinn at 9 really could have been that big a bust, i am glad we passed on him and took the chance on a qb 2nd round and an offensive playmaker first.

2. Ted Ginn Jr.: Ted Ginn Jr. - 6' 180
Marvin Harrison - 6' 185
Donald Driver - 6' 190
Steve Smith - 5'9 185
Isaac Bruce - 6' 188
Torry Holt - 6' 190

Look at that list.

DO NOT GIVE ME THE B.S. that he is too small and going to get hurt. Look at the stud wide receivers on this list. Premier #1 WIDE RECEIVERS!! Anyones argument that he can not develop into a number 1 doesnt know what they are saying. Ted is as fast if not faster than all those players on there. He needs help on his route running but that can be taught by good coaching. The kid is legit. We are going to use him similar to reggie bush and how the gators use percy harvin- we're gonna get him the ball and let him make plays. Short screens, reverses, flies, everything. This guy is gonna be all over the field and personally I am excited to see him every play. He is an Aplus 99 kick returner/punt returner we all know but what he can turn into at wr is why we drafted him. He is going to be the complete package with adequate coaching and training. Just watch and the fact that chris chambers and him are good friends makes me envision great things with our wr duo.

3. John Beck: We had him ranked higher than brady quinn on our board! I know the guy is going to be 26 (this dissapointed me) but look at it like this. Sometime before the end of the season he will be playing. So we can get 6-8 years as Beck as our starter. He is NOT going to be the vince young or peyton manning game changing quarterback. However, he can be Drew Brees, Marc Bulger, Phillip Rivers etc. Managing the game effectively putting our playmakers in position to make plays. He has a very strong arm and is very accurate. Cam is a quarterback guru and this qb fits his system. So if you dont like his age or his name you better get used to it cuz this guys skills on the field will put us in position to win games.

4.Oline: Cam came out at the end of the day and said Vernon Carey will switch to LT. This was very surprising. I believe he can be a solid LT based on cams tutalage and how vernon has progressed. LG will be Rex Hadnot moving over to make room for Samsom Satele at C. This guy is a character and adds a little spice to our offense. The long hair the mean streak hes got it all. He needs to work on run blocking but besides that he should be a solid C. RG should be Joe Toledo who has grown from the 4th round pick he was last year. As for RT, i expect LJ Shelton to shift over there. This is a solid oline and i expect us to spend another pick or 2 on guys that come in and contribute as backups.

5.Defense: Our defense is aging but there are playmakers back there. Vonnie Holliday, Jason Taylor, Joey Porter, and Zach Thomas are all up there in age but still play at a high level. 3 years from all these guys is very realistic. Besides these guys, we have youngsters matt roth and channing crowder starting. They are both going to be solid starters in this defense. Our secondary is average and hopefully jason allen will step it up this year. Right now we HAD to adress the talent on offense. We have talent on defense and they will keep us in most games. The only problem is the inevitable retirements of our star players. Our next 2 drafts will allow us to find suitable replacements for thomas, taylor, and porter. Our stars will keep on playing and we will be able to bring guys in behind them.

I hope the overall picture is coming into view. It has for me and i am excited to see our team on the field next season.

I agree with EVERYTHING you just put up nice post bro your a good reasonable minded fan

Well said. I know, heck I was disappointed too. But you know we were spoiled with the greatest QB of all time and went too long without a suitable replacement, it's frustrating when we pass on a potential QB of the future. But as time goes on from the first round, I'm ok. I trust in Cam and feel he did what he thought was best for our team. I know it can be frustrating with so much uncertainty at QB for so many years and I think it culminated today by passing on what everyone thought was the next big thing. Quinn might even be the next big thing. What does it matter? It was apparent after the 1st round that the Fins weren't even looking at Quinn. It is us here on the boards that got ourselves spun up so much over him. Regardless of what happened today, I think we will be alright. I think much better off with Cam than Saban in any case. However I am a doubter in C-Pep. I was disgusted when we chose him over Brees (yes, I felt like this even before Brees blew up). I do hope we can get Green in to mentor Beck and dump C-Pep soon. Then I will finally be at peace.

thanks for the kind words. we have to stick together and support the fins at times like these. I think Ginn can make the probowl as a KR. That is very impressive like hester his rookie year. And then the fact that he can turn into a sick wr? I love this pick.

Also, Beck is going to be our Marc Bulger. A solid quarterback who will run our system and let ronnie brown, chambers, and ginn make plays. Our oline will get better and i'm already looking forward to day 2 of the draft

Yes the light at the end of the tunnel is next year we will have a top 5 pick in order to draft Calais Campbell, Phillips, or perhaps McFadden or even brohm for a QB.

That is the light at the end of the tunnel

Why draft Brohm? Have you no faith in Beck?

Houck couldn't turn Carey into a LT...and Cam's going to? :sidelol:

Why do we need Brohm? We just got a quality QB. Show some love. He'll prove he's got the character and ability to be a franchise QB.

The Big dif between all the WRs you listed and Ginn
is they are can catch consitantly, and run tremendous routes. In Case you forgot the only route Ginn was able to run while not felling down on his pro day was a Fly

I just the rest of the draft and current plays can overcome the bad pick of Ginn. At least we can brag about having the highest paid returner in the NFL (while every other team laughs).

I completely disagree with this thread.

NOBODY blamed the Lions for picking Harrington. NOBODY blamed the texans for picking Carr. NOBODY blamed the Giants for trading for Manning. Why? Because you have to reach to get a Franchise QB. Those teams did. Actually, 2 of those did not even reach... it was the pick they were supposed to make. It just did not pan out. But you have to try to build around a solid QB. NOT around a glorified Kick Returner.

Ginn @ #9 is blah. Who cares about Ginn @ #9? He will never be anything more than a speester like alot of then that came and went in the NFL. Some stuck around like his other Ohio State product that plays for the Cowboys now; no one here can say that type of player is worth a #9 overall.

Our new QB? Blah as well. Another Weinke.

Every year the Dolphins produce a bunch of BLAH players in the draft and that's why we are @ the bottom now and will be there for a while. You need a pick that will shake the foundations, like Quinn would have. Someone who you can build around.

If it does not work, nobody will say ''you should have'', because you did; it just did not work out. Now, as we stand, we are stuck with alot of ''streching'' in the draft and alot of guessing, but nothing is for sure. Nothign is rock solid.

- we got a gimpy speedter: wooha
- we got a 26 year old project of a qb
- a 'good' lineman
- and some RB.

Wow. I can't wait for the season where JT will be our only highlight again... for the next 2-3 season at least / or until he decides he wants a ring somewhere he can actually get one...

I agree...I mean as Cam said today, we got the whole Ginn family. That is value!

"Ginn @ #9 is blah. Who cares about Ginn @ #9?"
Well we (Dolphins fans) should, considering we just drafted him at #9

"He will never be anything more than a speester like alot of then that came and went in the NFL."
How do you know this ??? How do you predict the future?

"Our new QB? Blah as well. Another Weinke."
Or another Brees, or someone who succeeds. You're just so upset that we didn't draft Quinn, that in your mind, Beck can not or will not succeed. Sad.

"You need a pick that will shake the foundations, like Quinn would have. Someone who you can build around. "
Again, how can you make such predictions? Because he went in the first round? Because he was from Notre Dame. Show me something proving Quinn would be better than Beck.

- a 'good' lineman

these are very distorted facts. Ginn is not "gimpy", he sprained his foot during a celebration after running back a kick return for a TD. Wow, what a devastating injury. :err:I'm sure he'll be fine by the time camp starts. By his own admission he is 90 percent.
Beck's 25, not 26. Oh my god, not 26, we need someone who is at least 24 to succeed at QB in the NFL right?
what's wrong with a good lineman? He's actually a center.
The RB's name is Lorenzo Booker and he has nice numbers for a #2 back.

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=136616

how about you stop acting like our season is over just because we didn't draft who you wanted (Brady Quinn) and be a little more positive about the situation. Just a thought.

I'm not saying we should have drafted Quinn @ #9. Just not Ginn Jr. @ #9. We have multiple needs on this team and WR and RB were not one of them. We could have lived with Chamber/Booker and with Ronnie/Ricky for another year of so.

As for the lineman we drafted, I said he was a good lineman. That is good.

As for Beck, he will be 26 before the season starts. I know some other QB's peaked well after this, but they were in the NFL for a couple of years before this guy. It's not a matter of 2 years. It's a matter of 4 years. It's alot of years of learning and QB's tend to need that learning.

As for me predicting the future, I have no clue. But Ginn Jr. in the top-10, no way. We had other needs than a Glorified Kick Returner who is so injured he could not make alot of the workouts. Aren't you fed up of drafting/trading for injured players who we are hoping come back to form? A speedster with a bum foot is kinda like a pitcher with a bum arm to me...
