OK guys, I won't be here for the Draft (leaving for Italy tonight), so I'm going to make my mock draft.
Portland- Greg Oden C, Ohio State This should be a no brainer. Aldridge is a strict PF, and the C's they have cannot score to save their lives. Oden could develop into a Hall of Fame caliber C. They've got the young players everwhere else
Seattle-Kevin Durant F, Texas Another great player. People compare him to KG. I can see it kind of (though Durant is more of a SF than KG ever was). Durant can and will revitalize this struggling franchise.
Atlanta- Al Horford PF/C, Florida Supposedly their set on Horford, despite needing a PG. That's fine though. Horford is not as much of a gamble as Marcus Williams or Shelden Williams were. Horford actually has an inside game and would really help the Hawks.
Memphis-Brandon Wright PF, North Carolina Almost garunteed that the Grizz would rather have Horford, but Wright is the BPA, and is probably the 3rd best player in the draft. Could develop into a great PF, but is extremely raw.
Boston-Corey Brewer SF, Florida A lot of people believe the pick should be Yi Jianlian, but Boston is supposedly leanying heavily towards Brewer which is not a bad choice.
Milwaukee-Mike Conley Jr PG, Ohio State Earl Boykins has opted out of his contract and Mo Williams is a FA. Williams is expected to resign, but is better suited to be a back up.
Minnesotta-Jeff Green SF, Georgetown Minny needs a big swingman in a bad way. Green is a very versitile player and is my sleeper for ROY.
Charlotte- Yi Jianlian PF, China I am not a big fan of Yi, and I personally think he's a huge project. But he should be a top 10 pick.
Chicago-Spencer Hawes C, Washington Supposedly has a promise from the Bulls (who need some inside scoring). Hawes needs to get a little stronger, but he's ready to contribute right away.
Sacramento- Joakim Noah PF, Florida Sactown needs someone to bring some energy to the games (especially since Artest is likely gone). Noah may never be a big time scorer, but he'll definatly be the glue on defense.
Atlanta-Acie Law PG, Texas A&M Supposedly, The Hawks gave Acie a garuntee. Even if they didn't, he deserves to go this high.
Philadelphia-Javaris Crittenton PG, Georgia Tech Crittenton is a very good prospect, but is very raw offensively. He's a great passer, but still needs to develop a shot. Still, a 6'4 PG is hard to pass up.
New Orleans-Nick Young SG, USC The one real weakness I see on the Hornets is the lack of well rounded swingmen (Peja is a shooter, Mason is a driver). Nick Young is a very good offensive player, that will pay immediate dividends.
LA Clippers-Thaddeus Young SF, Georgia Tech Another raw player, but is very talented. Could develop into a Teyshaun Prince clone with better offense.
Detroit-Al Thorton SF/PF, Florida State Best athlete in the draft. Detroit will get a steal here.
Washington-Rodney Stuckey SG/PG, Eastern Washington This pick came down to Derrick Byers or Stuckey, and athleticism won out in the end.
New Jersey-Tiago Splitter, PF Spain The Nets still need big men
Golden State-Rudy Fernandez SG, Spain Pietrus is probably gone this offseason, so the Warriors get a Manu Ginobili clone.
LA Lakers-Josh McRoberts PF, Duke The perfect big man for the triangle offense. He will probably never score a lot, but his passing will make the LA offense really good.
Miami-Julian Wright SF, Kansas I honestly forgot Wright was on the board, but rumor is his stock has taken a big hit. The Heat will take him though.
Philadelphia-Jason Smith PF, Colorado State Smith is still developing his offensive game. Right now he's about where Kenny Thomas was at while he played in Philly, but he's 7' and has a back to the basket game.
Charlotte-Derrick Byars SG, Vanderbilt Add some more shooting to a very young team.
New York-Daquan Cook SG, Ohio State Good offensive player, decent defender. a guy Isiah can develop on his bench.
Phoenix- Marco Belinelli SG, Italy Phoenix desperatly wants to trade up, but if they can't they'll gladly take Belinelli
Utah-Aaron Afflalo SG,UCLA Ronnie Brewer will be good, but they still have a lack of swingmen.
Houston-Alando Tucker SG, WisconsinContinue to add some toughness to the Rockets.
Detroit-Ramon Sessions PG, Nevada Really a Joe Dumars type of player. Smart, good defensively, and gets teammates involved. A bit of a reach, but so was Jason Maxiell
San Antonio-Marc Gasol C, Spain Pau's baby brother, but unlike Pau is a center. Despite decent seasons from Oberto and Elson, the Spurs still do not have a C to play alongside Duncan.
Phoenix-Wilson Chandler SF/PF DuPaul A lot like Shawn Marion, but stronger and can create his own shot.
Philadelphia-Morris Almond SG, Rice Best player available. Compares favorably to Michael Redd.
Portland- Greg Oden C, Ohio State This should be a no brainer. Aldridge is a strict PF, and the C's they have cannot score to save their lives. Oden could develop into a Hall of Fame caliber C. They've got the young players everwhere else
