My First Mock Draft (w/o trades)...

Shazor is a 2nd rounder
i would even say late 1st rounder / early 2nd rounder.

so only a S in the draft on defense....

who will be the starting OLB, CB, FS, DT, OT???

but i always like mock drafts... thanks, :D

people want to select benson cus they still blame williams for last season's disaster. that may be true, but now the fins have more important problems to address.

salary cap.... loosing 4 starters on D. and dont forget the problems at DT, OT, C, RB.....

I think Petitti can make a fine OT if we draft him. I just remember him really dismantling Freeney in college. DT can be helped if Anthony Bryant is ready to work and he's a proven runstuffer. C if we can get Wilkerson. I just wish we won't lose our whole secondary. We really should see if Surtain is willing to restructure rather than trade him. And this'll give us more options to draft other BPA players for the future.

Would Cadillac Williams or Ronnie Brown be a better alternative to Cedric Benson?

Here's a few modifications based on what I would like to happen this offseason:

Surtain, T-Bowens, Chester, Madison agrees to a restructure, We re-sign Welker, Seau, Greenwood, Knight. We sign Griese to compete with Feeley at a reasonable price and bring in Frerotte as 3rd stringer. Drop Howard, Fiedler, and Wade Smith. Sign and trade Sage Rosenfels for one of GB's 2nd rounders (like what Philly did to us )

1st round- RB Cedric Benson(Alternatives-Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, or Derrick Johnson if we get a FA RB)

2nd round- C Ben Wilkerson

3rd round- S Ernest Shazor

4th round- OT Rob Petitt (Who's good against speed rushers)

5th round- CB Alphonso Hodge

7th round- DT Anthony Bryant

Mock Draft 1.1

I got bored in my comp sci class and decided to make a revision to my mock draft. I still hold firm that Surtain isn't going anywhere but I put a 2nd rounder in here in case that happens or we do something to get one.

1st round- RB Ronnie Brown: I like Benson but he would've been a better fit under Wanny. He's got skill, period. I think Brown could do the job but I'm not expecting anything over 1100 yrds unless our O-line turns into Pro Bowl material. Hopefully, our line will shape up and give him some room. (Alternatives-Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, or Derrick Johnson if we get a FA RB)

2nd round- QB Andrew Walter: We need a backup under Feeley but over Sage. I don't want to sign Frerotte because we already have Garrett under that role as Qb coach. Either of these QBs looks to be a good project (Alternatives: QB David Greene, Ryan Fitzpatrick, David Baas, Ernest Shazor, Ben Wilkerson, Mark Clayton)

3rd round- C Ben Wilkerson: As much as I think McKinney can improve under Houck and be as good as his bro for the Texans. I'm thinking Saban goes with a guy he knows. And with Baas rising up the ranks, Wilkerson will drop. But he's gotta start gaining more weight. (Alternatives- S Ernest Shazor, WR Mark Clayton, LB Kevin Burnett)

4th round- WR Courtney Roby: He has great speed and decent size. He's related to the great Dolphins punter Roby (rest in peace) and that's a plus. And since Boston is gone we may need a receiver to challenge Thompson.(Alternatives- LB Mike Goolsby, LB Kenneth Pettway)

5th round- OT Rob Petitt: He's a good pass protector and run blocker. Isn't the best athlete-type but has the size and experience for a LT. He shut down Dwight Freeney in 2000. Nuff said. (Alternatives- Ben Wilkerson, LB Jonathan Welsh, OT Wesley Britt)

7th round- DT Anthony Bryant: He's a big guy who would fit well at a 3-4 and a good run stuffer. Stamina is an issue but at the 7th round can't ask for more. Won't be a factor in pass rushes so we can put him in as backup or on run plays (Alternatives- QB Jason White, LB Jonathan Pollard, S Ben Emanuel)

Bryant's probably gone by the 4th.

First time making a mock draft so here goes:

1st round- RB Cedric Benson: He's got mileage but so did Ricky and before the mental issues came in did well for quite a while. Sure, he's got legal issues but so does Jamal Lewis. He can move a pile which could be handy. (Alternatives-Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, or Derrick Johnson if we get a FA RB)

3rd round- C Ben Wilkerson: As much as I think McKinney can improve under Houck and be as good as his bro for the Texans. I'm thinking Saban goes with a guy he knows. But he's gotta start gaining more weight. (Alternatives- Rob Petitt, Ernest Shazor, Mark Clayton)

4th round- OT Rob Petitt: He's a good pass protector and run blocker. Isn't the best athlete-type but has the size and experience for a LT. He shut down Dwight Freeney in 2000. Nuff said. (Alternatives- Ben Wilkerson, LB Barrett Ruud, Ernest Shazor, Luis Castillo)

5th round- S Ernest Shazor: I'm thinking he may turn out as a young faster Sammy Knight and should get tutored by the original. Also, he may fill in at LB sometimes as some safeties do. I'd like to see him work a bit more on coverage (Alternatives- LB Barrett Ruud, Luis Castillo, LB Kenneth Pettway)

I didn't include any trades for Surtain or other, since I'm holding out hope that the Fins can't find a palatable offer and try to continue restructure negotiations. So that's it. Tell me what you think!

mark clayton is gonna be drafted mid to late first...he had a monster senior bowl and a decent combine...hes the 3rd or 4th best reciever in this draft

Probably will go anywhere from 17-24 at this point. He's rated right behind Williamson and then I believe it's White.

Probably. He ran pretty slow at the combine. He might be there.

We are good at DLine, O-line is OK, QB-OK, LB'S-OK, RB-NEED, WR-NEED, FB-GOOD, SAFTEY-OK, yes i believe we are ok at safety. With our biggest needs, i believe we go wr first concedering the depth at RB but only if we pick up a second for Surtain.
