I will analyze a few players first then put a different spin on the draft.

Dorsey, he is too small as a NT in a 3 - 4 defense so he is out.

McFadden, would be a luxury pick at a position we have our most depth with so he is out

Chris Long/Gholston, there too small in a 3 -4 defense to play ends so they are OLB's. Who do you bench Porter or JT so these guys get playing time? So they are out aswell.

Matt Ryan, we cant protect QB's and RB's so I see no need to draft more dead meat. I would also like to add Ryan does not come across as ELITE.

Jake Long, too me the only player that makes sense. Most agree his downside is a probowl RT and his ceiling is a very good LT. He fills a position of need aswell.

Never the less here is my spin on the draft.

What happens if we run a 4 - 3 defense? All of a sudden Chris Long/Dorsey/Gholston all become great fits for our team. I would still draft Jake Long yet I would feel comfortable with the above 3 if we went 4 -3. I think in a 4 - 3 our defense would be much much better with the above players.

I guess the biggest question is does a team run a system that doesnt fit their players or do they run a system that best suits their players?

As for the second and third rounds we should look for trades, I think there is great value there. As for trading the first overall? I think trading the first overall pick is a pipe dream. I mean if you had picks from 2 - 5 would you trade to move up? I wouldnt.

Comments?

Chris Long = Kevin Green Rams/Steelers a wild wild man always got the team fired up. Great Motor that never quit. 91 Kevin Greene OLB 6-3 247 played OLB in a 3-4. JT is undersized more so then C Long but that didn't stop someone with heart.

You might be onto something here. The more I watch of J Long the more nervous I get. The more I see of Dorsey the more I believe he is the best player in the draft and although I think he could play and excel at a 3-4 DE it certainly would give us flexibility.

Dorsey at DE in a 3 - 4 would be interesting. He has the size for the position yet once again he would be playing out of position which I do not like. Yet in a 3 - 4 it should be the linebackers applying pressure to the QB so he could become quite good there.

It would give us serious flexibility along the d-line, I think Dorsey could play NT in a 3-4 I just don't think he'll be an excellent NT like he'd be an excellent DT. I also think as a 3-4 DE he'd be a nice player but its another spot where it wouldn't maximize his talent. He would be able to move all over the DL and would be a serious inside rusher on passing downs. I think among experts and GM's alot of them do believe Dorsey is the best player in the draft, there is no denying the kid is a phenomenal prospect.
