Here im taking sort of a journalist point of view and style in writing this little piece

At 6-7 Miami stills finds themselves in the Playoff hunt, the question being for how much longer? Another big question we may never know is how far could this team have gone with a solid QB? 11-5? 10-6? Possibly better? AFC East Champions? We will never know but look for these potential QB's signing this offseason

5- Aaron Brooks- Everyone Seems to want him out in New Orleans when he hasnt been the problem, Its hard to win when you cant play defense, He has had a solid Career and his ability to scramble makes him ideal for a Miami Team who's offensive line looks less than stellar 85% of the time

4- Jon Kitna- A solid veteran QB, who can mold a young QB, He can make all the throws and has great accuracy, his deep ball leaves something to be desired but if your looking for a QB to manage the game and not make mistakes Kitna is your guy

3- Daunte Culpepper- The Vikings dont seem to like his future, comeing off major Knee surgery he may never be the same, He wont be looking for a big contract, and if he tells his former offensive cordinator that he can still play, look for Miami to take a chance on Daunte, He throws one of the best deep balls in the league and can help take this passing game to a whole new level, and if saban is right and you can 'Find' a QB, Daunte is the guy to find at a bargan price

2- Steve Mcnair- A wiley veteran QB who has had some injuries in recent years, but still has 3-4 good years left in him, He can make any throw on the football field, and still has some mobility in those 30+ year old legs, he would bring some consistancy to a miami passing game that hasnt been able to put together back to back good games up untill the last few weeks, scratch that, the last 5 quarters

and your winner is

1- David Carr- Houston will likley cut him this offseason to avoid paying millions of dollars they feel they can spend elsewhere, Say hello to the leinart era in houston, anyway, While im not all that high on Carr myself, he can throw the deep ball, and has a lot of upside, in his defense it is hard to throw the ball from your back, a position he spends most his time in, he has been sacked 55 times up to this point in the 05 season, when given time he can make all the throws, in houston he was never given time to develop but with talent around him look for Carr to become a team leader, its hard in houston to be a leader at 1-11 with the worst coach in the league, but a few victories in a dolphin uniform will have his career doing a complete 360 so dont be suprised to see carr in a miami uniform in 06

Tell me what you think of my little piece :D

Dante is still a talent, but didnt he sign a big contract about 2 yrs ago? I honestly dont know, but if so there's no way we trade major picks for him.

he's coming off major knee surgery and may never be the same, I dont think we will give anything major for him but the Vikings may be looking to cut or trade him due to his salary

also thats why he is at 3 rather than 1

First off, very good post. I know most of David Carr's sacks are the fault of his O'line, but in watching him, I feel that he takes sacks that he shouldn't. I don't know if it's an experience thing or not, but I think that there are ways that quarterbacks limit sacks. With all the negative things people can say about Gus, one thing nobody can knock is his ability to not get sacked. It just seems like some of Carr's sacks can be avoided. The positive though is that something like that can be fixed.

I agree and like I said im not big on carr but at least he isnt forcing it

11 TD's 9 INT's

anytime you throw more TD's than INT's behind that O-line you arnt half bad, I dont get to see him much, but 55 is a big # and i would assume even more plays he was hurried on. besides its also dumb luck he is loseing

The bears are 9-4 with orton throwing like 9 TD's and 13 INT's

Carr was cursed on draft day by being taken by houston

Yes, we need a new QB. But this team's record can't be blamed soley on the QB - NOT even close. We have lost a game because of a fumble by Brown (Buff). We have lost games because of an atrocious amount of penalties. (Jets, Bucs) and still barely lost those games. We lost a game to Atlanta because of a dropped TD pass on the last play and many other drops during the course of that game, not to mention the 3rd down conversion rate we allowed which has been a HUUUUUUUGE problem for this team all season. So, yes, we need a QB, but to lay the blame on his shoulders only is ridiculous. THere have been quite a few factors that have went into why we aren't 9-4 instead of 6 -7.

AS for your QB list. I don't want any of them in a Dolphins uniform. David Carr has had plenty of time to prove he is worthy of being a starter and has failed. It's easy to blame his team, but a QB with starting talent would have elevated his teams play, not contributed to its terrible play.

Like I said this is looking at it from a nuetral standpoint not my own being a fins fan, I know not all the games have been bad QB play and I have stuck up for our guys all year

personally id take any of them

Carr would be an upgrade to what we have now, that's for sure. If he would be willing to play for substantially less, i don't see the harm in taking him. Plus the kids still young, lots of time for him to develop.

exactly he has never had time to develop in houston they just tossed him in and said go win

Saban is a great coach and can give carr the coaching he needs, he has tremendous upside

Also like I said, hard to throw when your on your back all the time

Also I would have added Rivers to the list but I dont see him happening and I wanted to keep it to top 5

i want none of these guys.

for the love of god, we need to draft a damn QB.

im sick of bringing in veterans in here.
NO MORE.

I think writing off Culpepper is a little premature. David Carr is awful, I'd rather have Gus for another season than watch him constantly hold onto the ball too long and refuse to throw it away, but that's the offensive lines fault right? I don't think Houston will get rid of him anyways, and eventhough they have Davis, I don't think they pass on Reggie Bush.

Culpepper has even said he doesnt know if he will play again, but that was when he was first injured so im sure he has progressed some and said that partially out of fear and/or shock

Carr, Has had bad coaching his whole career, with a guy like saban maybe he could turn it around, if he threw the ball away every time there was pressure he would be something like 2 for 50 passing at the end of games  and with constant pressure it is hard to get into a groove

if saban wanted him I wouldnt object

Of these, I'd only be interested in Carr ... and only so far.

Culpepper is intriguing, but there's something about him that bothers me overall. It seems like most of his success came from throwing up jump balls to a healthy Randy Moss. Heck, I could do that.

But I trust Mueller and Saban to bring in some real talent this offseason to overtake Gus either right away, or some point in the season. Jury's still out on Sage and Cleo as well.
