We DON'T trade any draft picks for big name veteran WR's.

We DON'T sign many OLDER veteran big names in free agency.

We trade down from one or more of our first day slots for more draft picks this year and next, NOT PLAYERS.

We take the field in 08 with some returning vets, many returning and new young players and very few NEW veteran players.

We win a handfull of games and with some luck maybe come close to .500 ball. BUT we are young, hungry and on our way to improvng and being contenders for years to come.

This to me would be a great 2008.

I want draft picks and to get younger.

All the Chad Johnsons, Flozell Adams, Roy Williams, ETC can stay put. Give me more draft picks, new names, young growing players, and excitement for a growing powerhouse.

give us at least one signing FA... not enough picks for us available to help fully in all our weaknesses in positions and depth

As I said, I just don't want "many (if any) older" veterans signed. I have no problem with free agent signings, just on the younger side, and I will edit that, because one or two veterans signings would help with the youth, but I do want to be centered arond youth, not youth centered around veterans.

Sounds good, BUT if the Fins do what you propose, there is no way in heck they win "a handful of games". It would be Beck at QB, poor wideouts, and an aging D along with a ton of young players, rookies etc etc. It would be 2-3 wins. Im taking you meant "handful" of wins meaning 4-6.

I am only for a trade that would involve Fitzgerald and Roy Williams.

yeahhhhh cuz a draft pick is so much more valuable than a 25 year old, proven Roy Williams. :err::rolleyes2:

Not necessarily, thats what we played with last year, and we had a bunch of injuries. Last year we lost 6 games by 3 points. With better coaching and training this year, less injuries, some of the younger guys from last year (Ginn, Satele, J. Allen, Mauia, hopefully Beck) maturing and a good draft, I could see us winning 4-6 games not 2-3 wins.

2-3 wins would have come last year with simply better coaching decisions and a few less injuries.

Yeah it is when people are talking about trading away a first round pick for him, or even our 2a pick, which is essentially a first round pick for second round money.

I am not doubting Roy Williams being a good (but overrated)WR and young (26 BTW), but I would not give up less than our 3rd round pick (again essentially a second round pick for third round money).

And my reason for not giving up a top second round pick for him, is in 4 years in the league he has played all 16 games in only one year, 2006. He is injury prone and going to come at a very high salary, in 2007 he was 6.5 million against the cap.

so yes a high draft pick is more valuable than a proven, 26 year old*(injury prone, overrated, and expensive) Roy Williams :err:

Your also assuming that Beck is better. And I didnt see much to think he will be, he never led the team to a single TD and gave up many. If Green comes back and can play, maybe they win a few, not with this same team and Beck at QB though.

I am not assuming that at all...

I said "hopefully Beck", I also am not against drafting a QB in the later rounds, or picking up a veteran QB for a good price if Green can not come back and letting a few guys compete for the job.

My main statement is I do not want to spend big money on "OLDER BIG NAME" veterans. Going out and grabbing a few veterans for the right price to help the maturity of the youth is fine. But not paying top dollar or trading away top draft picks for them.

LOL..it is soo funny that people can say that he is overrated when clearily he is a top 10 wr..lol..injury prone he had one big injuring so far..thats is not injuring prone..cadillac williams is injuring prone..how many times truthfully have u seen him play..1 to 2 times this year???

I could live with us getting Roy Williams. Our QB, whomever that might be, will need help and I am not quite convinced that Ted Ginn, Marty Booker, and Camarillo are anywhere near talented enough. Williams is young too.

Otherwise I am with you. I hated when our team traded for older players like Trent Green.

True. Ronnie got injured this year and last too but they were FREAK accidents. What a broken hand in Detroit and a slightly torn ACL in an interception with the Pats. Darn those interceptions...

That is not the Beck I saw. He led the team to 2 TD's and a FG and a 2 point conversion. Plus he threw 3 more TD passes that were dropped and 1 missed FG that could have reversed both the Philly and the Pitt loses. Did he play like a vet? No he played like a rookie that was with 3rd stringers and other rookies. And thats who he had with him in those games. One other thing I would like to point out is that the play calling was bad, to say the least. The run to pass ratio was 70-30%, which was Cam's falt not John Becks.
